A global insurance provider in Mexico City seeks a Regional Group Underwriting Manager for its Accident & Health division. This role involves maintaining loss ratio levels, overseeing product developments, and conducting portfolio analyses. The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills and experience in underwriting processes. Regional Group Underwriting Manager, Accident & Health

Responsibilities

Loss Ratio: Maintain it at or below agreed upon levels.
Portfolio Analysis: Control and segment the business into Product P&Ls. Monitor business retention. Conduct audits for compliance, correctness, etc., including use of underwriting authorities delegated locally, rating, wordings, file documentation, renewal underwriting, product development process, peer reviews, etc. Audits must be performed every 18–24 months or sooner with written reports sent to the UW Regional Office for final review.
Product Development: Review and approve work done by others or perform work yourself. Ensure that all new products or major product changes are approved by Regional Underwriting Manager, Regional Actuarial, and Regional Legal as required. Follow the Product Development process as appropriate.
Case Underwriting: Review/approve quotes on large and/or unusual market opportunities.
Group Business, Business Travel, VEB, Specialty Markets.
Training: Ensure that anyone with underwriting authority is properly trained to at least the level of their authority and that trainees progress toward obtaining underwriting authority.
General: Assist the A&H Manager with SBUs issues, important client relationships, and key production issues.
Third Party Administrators (TPA): Ensure appropriate evaluation has been done regarding the TPA. UW Managers do not have authority to contract TPA; all cases must be prepared and sent to the UW Regional Office for approval/sign-off. Regional Legal must approve the TPA agreement and it must be signed prior to the TPA beginning any work. New Jersey signs off as necessary.
Inter-departmental Liaison: Coordinate with Operations & Systems, Legal, Claims and Controller/Financial Departments to ensure awareness of underwriting and related activities requiring support and service.
Performance Appraisals: Periodically provide comments on the technical ability and performance of subordinates against established criteria.
