The Laboratory Technician conducts analytical tests to evaluate the quality, grade, or other characteristics of products and goods, ensuring compliance with quality standards or research protocols. In R&D, they also assist with setting up, conducting, and reporting specific tests, and support the development of new assays in collaboration with project teams.

Within an OpCo Laboratory, the role focuses on first-line technical and analytical support, testing samples of raw materials, in-process goods, and end products. In R&D laboratories, the focus extends to supporting research activities and supervising laboratory staff.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Quality Control and Testing:
  • Perform quality control and in-process tests to ensure products meet quality standards and process continuity.
  • Identify deviations, report issues, and collaborate with supervisors on batch approvals.
  • Monitor quality trends and communicate defects or trends for preventive action.
  • R&D Studies:
    • Collaborate with researchers to develop experimental design and test plans.
    • Conduct experiments, including molecular biological, biochemical, microbiological, and cell culture assays.
    • Develop and validate novel assays with researchers.
  • Reporting:
    • Accurately record data and observations, ensuring accessibility of test results.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Calibrate instruments periodically and propose improvements.
    • Ensure compliance with SOPs and standards like ISO9001 and ISO17025.
  • Maintenance:
    • Perform first-line maintenance on tools and instruments, request assistance for repairs, and coordinate preventive maintenance.
  • Supervision and Training:
    • Train and supervise interns, apprentices, and junior staff as needed.
