A leading aerospace company is seeking a Quality Lead to oversee the business Quality Management System. The successful candidate will develop and implement effective quality control processes, conduct internal audits, and act as the primary authority for quality assurance. This role demands strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of aerospace industry standards.
The Quality Lead is the owner of the business Quality Management System and responsible for developing, planning and leading the execution of all manufacturing activity in the Quality space. This includes managing the product and site qualifications for internal, customer and third party certifications and approvals. The position also has responsibility for planning and conducting internal audits that will monitor and ensure successful transition processes. Owns the delegation for product acceptance authority and other customer driven requirements. Quality Lead will be the top management representative and authority for monitoring performance and continuous improvement at site level. Responsible for continuous improvement efforts to continually improve the quality systems. Manages the planning and execution of last article / first article activity for all parts being transitioned. Act as the expert on various customer and industry quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100 and D1-9000. Recent experience with the revision D version of AS9100 is preferred. Establishment, maintenance and reporting of key metrics to monitor and report on project success from a technical, cost and schedule perspective. Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years leading work teams and promoting team members development.
• 5+ years' experience in regulated industries (Automotive, Aerospace or Medical).
• Understanding of aerospace industry standards such as AS9100, National Aerospace Standards, SAE, US mil-standards, ISO9001, Nadcap, etc.
• Experience with OEM (Airbus, Boeing, Bell Helicopter, Sikorsky Helicopter, Lockheed Martin, etc.) supplier quality and certification requirements.
• Six Sigma Green Belt+ Certification preferred.
• Understand customer needs and requirements to develop effective quality control processes.
• Experience reviewing specifications for products or processes.
• Experience setting requirements for products from suppliers and monitor their compliance.
• Experience supervising teams: inspectors, technicians, engineers and other staff and provide guidance and feedback.
• Experience keeping accurate documentation and perform statistical analysis.
• Constantly looking for improvement opportunities and develop new efficient procedures.
• Conscientious and responsible, excellent organizational and leadership skills.
• Outstanding communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Office • In depth understanding of quality control procedures.
• Superior interpersonal skills, delivers information clearly and factually. Capable of adjusting to situation or audience.
