Job Responsibilities
- Advanced working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and Lean Manufacturing, and how to apply these skills to improve quality, capacity, and reduce cost.
- Ensure gauge calibration, certification, repeatability, and reproducibility.
- Verify tolerance/engineering specifications.
- Develop dimensional/product/process control plans.
- Develop and document product inspection standards.
- Develop and implement torque sampling strategy.
- Define and conduct machine process capability analysis.
- Previous experience managing safety critical parts.
- Review codes, verify tolerances, and design specifications and processes.
- Design and develop methods, processes, and procedures for recording and reporting data results, and report on those results.
- Analyze data to identify trends in product quality or defects with the goal of mitigating and preventing recurrence and future defects.
- Ability to communicate and direct supplier activities at the management level.
- Review design plans, process procedures, test procedures, and quality manuals to understand the scope, requirements, and function of products.
- Ensure products meet the organization’s and customers’ quality and product integrity requirements.
- Support product development or operations teams by providing analysis and expertise throughout the inspection process.
- Identify root causes of problems in the production process; recommend and/or implement corrective measures.
- Assist in the development and improvement of the Quality Management System.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area; follow daily housekeeping and 5S standards.
- Coordinate with Stamping, Body, Paint, and Assembly to support/attain plant-wide goals.
- Possess demonstrable leadership abilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Ideal Experience
- BS in Mechanical Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in trucking/automotive manufacturing in Hard Trim, Door Panel, IP, Console.
- Basic understanding of FMEAs and their use and interpretation.
- Basic understanding of GD&T related to dimensional tolerance specifications.
- Basic understanding of DVP&R documentation related to functional specifications.
- Basic understanding of how to interpret statistical data.
- Basic understanding of automotive requirements for appearance for components on the interior and exterior of a vehicle.
- A good understanding of an automotive process and how your commodities impact the rest of the vehicle with regards to function, cost, and timing.
Preferences and Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Extensive knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s production processes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to serve as a liaison with developers, project managers, and customer support.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- The factory has both office area and shop floor area. The noise level in the office area is generally quiet. Wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE) when visiting the shop floor or when visiting a supplier’s manufacturing locations is required.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

- Travel is minimal (5%) for this position.
