Quality and Operations Lead Job Description
The Quality and Operations Lead is responsible for collaborating with Stellantis Brands, Logistics, Fleet, Product Development, Marketing, Purchasing, and Quality groups within NAFTA to ensure all Vehicle Custom Shop Assembly operational attributes are in place. The role involves coordinating launches effectively within defined timelines, meeting volume and revenue expectations, and overseeing day-to-day production at MCSs to meet quality standards for Stellantis vehicles. The Lead serves as the primary contact between Mopar, assembly plants, and up-fit suppliers on operations and quality matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with up-fit suppliers and quality engineers to ensure compliance with Stellantis-approved manufacturing processes, including audits of 2nd shift and weekend shifts.
- Coordinate with up-fit suppliers and the supply base to prevent or resolve short-term disruptions.
- Lead identification and resolution of incoming part and process issues using the Global Issue Management (GIM) process where applicable.
- Manage new program production start at MCS with 100% Containment and Containment Release processes.
- Communicate vehicle incoming quality issues with the assembly plant quality organization.
- Manage ship hold and yard hold at MCSs as needed.
- Lead the launch of new programs (KM, KX, EJ) in Toluca, including X1, X2, X3, and J1 build phases at the new Mopar Custom Shop facility.
- Oversee post-launch daily quality initiatives for these programs in collaboration with Toluca Assembly Plant quality team.
- Lead the launch of the 25MY DT in Saltillo, including all build phases at the Mopar Custom Shop.
- Coordinate post-launch quality initiatives with the Saltillo Assembly Plant quality team.
Operational Responsibilities (50%)
- Support planning, vehicle engineering, and program selection for the Custom Shop location.
- Lead facility start-up and readiness, including tooling, equipment, operator training, and process sheets.
- Coordinate with Assembly Process Manufacturing and support engineering installations and work instruction validations.
- Implement operational improvements to enhance labor savings and productivity.
- Plan vehicle volume with relevant teams, monitor build plans, and coordinate with suppliers to avoid delays.
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks affecting launches.
- Support assembly to reduce incorrect builds and mitigate E&O on assembly short builds.
- Drive cost optimization initiatives.
- Oversee and train staff supporting KM, KX, EJ programs in Toluca and DT programs in Saltillo.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- Fluent in English; reports to US
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar role within the automotive industry
Technical Knowledge
- Knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, PSO, PPAP processes
- Experience with World Class Manufacturing (WCM) is a plus
- Proficiency in MS Office, including presentation skills
- Understanding of Vehicle Assembly, Logistics, and Quality systems
- Experience with supplier readiness reviews, focusing on assembly and repair capabilities
- Knowledge of operational efficiency and throughput enablers
