Job summary

Ford México is seeking a Software Validation Engineer to design and execute automated tests for native mobile features in the Ford app, with an initial focus on native commerce, in-app purchases, storefront and subscriptions.

You will join a small QA team, work across Android and iOS, leverage XCTest/XCUIAutomation, Jetpack Compose Test API, and Espresso, and collaborate with the Lead to grow your skills while ensuring robust quality in CI/CD environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/CE/EE or related field.
• 2–3 years of software QA/testing experience with mobile app testing (Android and/or iOS).
• Working knowledge of XCTest/XCUIAutomation (iOS) and Jetpack Compose Test API + Espresso (Android) or ability to ramp up quickly.
• Familiarity with Git and JIRA for version control and defect tracking.
• Advanced English skills.

Job description

As a Software Validation Engineer, you will build and execute automated tests for native features on the Ford mobile app, with an initial focus on native commerce (in-app accessories storefront and in-app subscriptions). You will work closely with a Lead Software Validation Engineer, who will mentor and coach you as you grow your skills in mobile test automation, and contribute to a small, collaborative QA team supporting Android and iOS.

• 4 Days On Site in GTBC Ford México (Naucalpan, México)
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test cases for native mobile features using established frameworks (XCTest/XCUIAutomation for iOS, Jetpack Compose Test API + Espresso for Android).
• Execute test coverage for in-app purchase and subscription flows, including checkout, payment processing (Stripe test cards), and subscription lifecycle events (trials, renewals, cancellations), under the guidance of the Lead.
• Execute manual and automated test cases across development and staging environments, documenting results clearly.
• Analyze test failures, perform initial troubleshooting and debugging, and escalation complex root cause analysis to the Lead as needed.
• Log, track, and help manage defects through resolution using JIRA.
• Contribute test automation code to shared repositories using Git, following established branching and merge practices.
• Run automated test suites within existing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) and flag pipeline issues to the Lead.
• Collaborate with the Lead and development team to understand feature requirements and translate them into test cases.
• Continuously build proficiency in mobile automation tooling and testing best practices, with growth support from the Lead.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 2-3 years of experience in software quality assurance/testing, with exposure to mobile application testing (Android and/or iOS).
• Working knowledge of test automation using XCTest/XCUIAutomation (iOS) and/or Jetpack Compose Test API and Espresso (Android), or strong ability to ramp up quickly with mentorship.
• Basic understanding of e-commerce, in-app purchase, or subscription-based feature flows.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Exposure to defect/test management tools such as JIRA.
• Strong attention to detail and clear written communication for test documentation and defect reporting.
• Advanced English skills.
