AgileEngine is seeking a Python Backend Developer to build and extend the backend of an internal developer portal, leveraging AI coding tools in daily work.

You will design robust Python backends, integrate Snowflake and SQL/NoSQL databases, work with Git and CI/CD, and collaborate across teams in a flexible, remote-friendly environment with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• 4+ years backend development with Python and web frameworks.
• Experience using AI coding assistants in daily workflows.
• Proficient with Git and CI/CD pipeline integration.
• Linux/Unix user-level proficiency; no admin duties.
• Experience with Snowflake, SQL databases and MongoDB.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Python Backend Developer to build and extend the backend of an internal developer portal and dashboard, using AI coding tools in daily work.

MUST HAVES

• Python Expertise: Strong hands-on backend development experience of at least 4 years using Python and standard web frameworks (e.g., FastAPI, Django, or Flask).
• AI Tooling: Demonstrated experience using AI coding assistants in daily development workflows.
• Version Control & CI/CD: Proficiency with Git, including branch management, pull requests, and CI/CD pipeline integration.
• Linux/Unix Fundamentals: User-level proficiency with Linux/Unix command-line navigation, shell scripting basics, and environment manipulation (no administrative/sysadmin duties required).
• Database Integration: Experience working with diverse databases, including Snowflake, relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL), and non-relational (e.g., MongoDB) databases.
• API Design: Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles and integration.

NICE TO HAVES

• Familiarity with modern frontend development (TypeScript or modern component-based frameworks like React/Vue) for cross-stack collaboration.
• Basic understanding of cloud infrastructure and containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience working within an Agile/Scrum development lifecycle.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Continue the development and extension of the internal developer portal and dashboard.
• Design, build, and maintain a robust custom Python backend to support core application features.
• Leverage AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) to streamline implementation, refactoring, and test generation.
• Integrate the application with diverse database environments, specifically Snowflake, relational (SQL), and non-relational (NoSQL) databases.
• Manage version control and CI/CD pipelines (Git) to maintain automated testing and smooth deployment workflows.
• Interact with and navigate Linux/Unix environments on a user level to run development builds, execute scripts, and inspect logs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate user requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Ensure code quality through unit testing, peer code reviews, and performance optimization.
