Collins Aerospace in Mexicali is seeking a senior engineering leader to direct and develop a high-performing team, aligning goals with program milestones and technical deliverables.

You will coordinate cross-functional activities, drive root-cause investigations, and guide design and stress analyses to improve performance, manufacturability, and margins. Must be willing to travel up to 20%.

Formación

  • Degree in STEM with 10+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 7+ years.
  • Experience leading engineering teams, setting goals, and performance management.
  • Aerospace engineering experience with aircraft structures, parts, or components.
  • Experience with qualification, validation, and testing activities.

Responsabilidades

  • Lead and develop the engineering team by establishing goals and priorities, assigning and reviewing work, monitoring performance, and providing development opportunities.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate engineering activities, resources, and priorities to support program goals, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate Development, Value Engineering, Producibility, and Testing activities with program customers and internal cross-functional teams.
  • Drive closure of technical challenges by providing direction to engineering teams and SMEs.
  • Coordinate design and stress analysis activities, including task assignments, milestone tracking, and deliverable completion.
  • Establish metrics, reporting requirements, targets, and standards to monitor performance and drive improvements.
  • Create and execute low-cost sourcing plans and manage indirect spending to align budgets with objectives.
  • Recommend and guide design changes to improve manufacturability and margins.
  • Develop and implement methods for component qualification and validation, including tolerance analyses.
  • Lead engineering investigations to establish root cause and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external customers to support objectives.
  • Communicate goals and program updates through staff meetings and leadership presentations.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 20% as required.

What You Will Do
  • Lead and develop the engineering team by establishing goals and priorities, assigning and reviewing work, monitoring individual and team performance, and providing training, mentoring, and development opportunities.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate engineering activities, resources, and priorities to support program goals, project milestones, and technical deliverables.
  • Coordinate Development, Value Engineering, Producibility, and Testing activities with program customers and internal cross-functional teams.
  • Drive closure of technical challenges by providing technical direction and guidance to engineering teams, cross-discipline peers, and subject matter experts.
  • Coordinate design and stress analysis activities, including task assignments, technical reviews, milestone tracking, and deliverable completion.
  • Establish metrics, reporting requirements, targets, and standards, and use data to monitor performance and drive improvements in OTD, FPY, productivity, and targeted turnback reduction.
  • Create and execute low-cost sourcing plans and manage indirect and CFE spending to align budgets with program and strategic business objectives.
  • Ensure standard analysis methods are applied and establish appropriate mitigation methods when required.
  • Recommend and guide design changes to improve product performance, manufacturability, and program margins.
  • Develop and implement methods for component qualification and validation, including tolerance stack-up studies to support design integrity and manufacturability.
  • Lead engineering investigations to establish root cause and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including cross-discipline, CEO, PTO, and program teams, as well as external customers, to support engineering and program objectives.
  • Communicate goals, technical information, and program updates through regular staff meetings, individual meetings, and presentations to senior-level leadership.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 20% as required by business needs.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 7 years of experience.
  • Engineering team leadership experience, including work assignment, technical deliverable review, and performance management.
  • Aerospace engineering experience with aircraft structures, parts, or components.
  • Component qualification, validation, and testing experience, including test results documentation.
  • Engineering investigation experience, including root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action implementation.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Design engineering and/or stress analysis experience, including structural analysis and CAD design.
  • Program management experience, including technical requirements management and tracking technical deliverables across multiple projects.
  • Experience with engineering and product lifecycle management platforms such as Teamcenter or ENOVIA.
  • Aerospace qualification and integration experience, including RTCA DO-160 or equivalent testing and aircraft systems integration involving hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, latching, sealing, or thermal insulation systems.
  • Experience applying continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, ACE, or CORE, and conducting failure root cause and corrective action investigations.
