Collins Aerospace in Mexicali is seeking a Senior Design Engineer, Tooling to design manufacturing tooling for aerospace production.

You will develop detailed 3D models and drawings in CATIA V5, support composite layup, sheet metal fabrication, machining and assembly, and partner with multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust tooling solutions that improve safety, ergonomics and efficiency.

Formación

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency using CATIA V5 to create 3D models, assemblies and drawings for tooling.
  • Experience designing tooling for composite layup, sheet metal fabrication, machining and mechanical assembly.

Responsabilidades

  • Design and develop manufacturing tools for safe, ergonomic and efficient production.
  • Create detailed 3D models and drawings using CATIA V5 for tooling across processes.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Operations, Quality and Engineering to meet production requirements.
  • Investigate tooling issues via RCCA and implement corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement to enhance quality, productivity and performance.

As a Senior Design Engineer, Tooling, you'll design manufacturing tooling that enables the production of high-quality aerospace components while improving safety, ergonomics, efficiency, and operational performance.

What You Will Do
  • Design and develop manufacturing tools that support safe, ergonomic, high-quality, and efficient production in accordance with Tool Design Manuals and aerospace industry best practices.
  • Develop detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using CATIA V5 to support composite layup, sheet metal fabrication, machining, and mechanical assembly manufacturing processes.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, and Engineering teams to deliver tooling solutions that support production requirements and ensure compliance with engineering and quality standards.
  • Investigate tooling and manufacturing issues by participating in Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) activities and implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement by analyzing manufacturing challenges, developing innovative tooling solutions, and optimizing product quality, productivity, and operational performance.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Advanced proficiency using CATIA V5 to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings for manufacturing tooling.
  • Experience designing tooling for composite layup, sheet metal fabrication, machining, and mechanical assembly manufacturing processes.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawing interpretation, material properties, and standard hardware selection for tooling applications.
  • Professional proficiency in written and spoken English with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and support Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) activities.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Knowledge of aerospace Tool Design Manuals and tooling design best practices.
  • Experience supporting aerospace manufacturing or production environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles and manufacturing process optimization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
