ISP Psychologist Role Profile

Purpose of Role

The purpose of the Psychologist role is to assess, diagnose, and support individuals with emotional, psychological, behavioural, or mental health difficulties. The psychologist uses evidence-based interventions to help clients improve their well-being, cope with challenges, and achieve positive mental health outcomes. Working collaboratively with students, families and other professionals, the psychologist plays a key role in promoting psychological resilience and supporting holistic care within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychological assessments, including interviews, observations, and standardized testing, to diagnose behavioural conditions.
  • Provide one-to-one and group psychological interventions to support students emotional well-being.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with professional and legal standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., psychiatrists, social workers, educators) to ensure coordinated care and support for clients.
  • Offer expert advice and consultation to colleagues, carers, and other professionals regarding psychological aspects of care or intervention.
  • Deliver training, guidance, or workshops on emotional health awareness and psychological practices when required.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, adapting approaches to meet the evolving needs of students.
  • Stay current with developments in psychology through ongoing professional development, research, and supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor´s Degree in Psychologyor equivalent (required)

Experience:

  • Relevant experience in delivering psychological assessments and interventions.
  • Experience working with individuals across a range of ages, backgrounds, or conditions, depending on the setting
  • Familiarity with safeguarding practices and managing risk in a clinical or organizational setting
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team and contributing to care planning and support strategies
  • Prior involvement in service development, audit, or research activities is advantageous
