Overview
The Project Safety Advisor in Querétaro, MX will provide authoritative guidance to project and construction teams, becoming an integral part of them—especially on legal compliance topics such as risk assessments, legal audits, claims from local authorities regarding site safety labor inspections, safety committee workstreams, "contingencies determination," job position adaptations, and incident investigations.
Responsibilities
- Attending safety and management meetings, training workshops, and daily activity briefings.
- Supervising subcontractors and contractors to ensure their competence.
- Promoting continuous Health and Safety initiatives to foster a positive safety culture across all projects.
- Supporting business change through effective change management in a fast-paced environment.
- Implementing and reviewing the company\'s global safety policies, ensuring local legislative compliance.
- Maintaining and developing personal competence to meet business and client demands.
- Advising senior management on Health and Safety procedures and strategies.
It is expected that the successful candidate will have sufficient flexibility to manage and deliver projects within the region.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related HS&E field.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in construction safety, ideally in mission-critical environments such as data centers.
- Formal qualifications in occupational health and safety management, in accordance with Mexican regulations.
- Experience as an Owner’s Representative is desirable.
- NFPA 70e certification is a plus.
- Proven experience in contractor communications, coordination with design teams, and other project professionals.
- A flexible individual who can adapt general methods and processes to meet client and business needs.
- Significant Health and Safety experience in industrial and/or construction environments.
- Able to effectively lead and manage an HS&E team.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills; results-oriented and tenacious.
- Comfortable communicating at all levels of seniority within a large organization.
- In-depth understanding of Mexico’s Health and Safety legislation.
- Ability to quickly build credibility and influence change.
- Fluent in Spanish; good communication skills in English are preferable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – Essential.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines – Essential.
- Advanced IT skills for generating reports and documentation.
- Willingness to relocate to Querétaro, if not already residing there.
