The Project Category Leader supports Product Development projects within the Offer Lifecycle Management (OLM), ensuring an efficient supplier selection process.
He/she plays a key role in coordinating procurement activities between Procurement categories and Line of Business (LoB).
He/she supports the implementation of global/local procurement strategies that align with LoB needs, considering growth and technical challenges.
He/she is a strong team player within Offer Lifecycle Management, GSC, and the Schneider Electric Procurement community, recognized as an expert in his/her category and a specialist in supplier management.
Main objectives as PCL:
- Lead the supplier selection process in collaboration with the Procurement Project Leader, including end-to-end negotiations from preparation to business award (e-RFQ).
- Influence and deploy commodity strategies, SoC, and sourcing methods (Should cost, e-sourcing templates).
- Challenge and influence SOC/Recommended choices to ensure commodity choices meet industry needs.
- Provide inputs for CSRM / SRIM analysis to the project team / PPL.
- Manage procurement activities for his/her category within new product projects.
- Contribute to the development of procurement deliverables.
- Guide component and sub-assembly selection with a procurement approach, considering target costs, TCO, innovation, avoiding single sourcing, standardization, supply chain flexibility, and quality.
- Analyze and challenge project needs.
- Contribute to achieving project targets (cost, quality, time-to-market) while adhering to procurement processes and strategies.
- Support make-or-buy decisions.
- Bring supplier market knowledge and innovation into projects.
- Participate in key supplier negotiations for major suppliers when relevant.
- Challenge specifications, define PPEP, and review contracts.
As Category representative for his/her category:
- Consolidate roadmap, project information, and needs from BU to Commodity Management. Attend core team meetings.
- Consolidate OCP information (supplier performance, etc.) for business reviews with key suppliers.
- Organize interlock meetings with GCD/RCMs.
- Collect and distribute targeted supplier OCP performance data to SSL/SupRep before business reviews.
Qualifications
Requirements
- Education: Engineering bachelor’s degree, or business bachelor’s degree; a master’s or MBA is a plus.
- Job Related Experience: Minimum of 5 to 10 years in a Purchasing/Sourcing team within a multinational corporation, with mandatory procurement and supplier management experience. Experience in outsourced products/assembly processes is a plus.
- Business Understanding: Experience and understanding of Mechanical (Plastic, Stamping, Printing) & Electrical (Winding, PCBA) components supply chain, with industrial product application experience being advantageous. Business acumen is essential.
