Este profesional será responsable del diseño, desarrollo y liberación de componentes de dirección, asegurando el cumplimiento de requisitos de calidad, costo y desempeño. El candidato ideal debe tener habilidades analíticas, experiencia en herramientas de desarrollo de productos y conocimientos del entorno de la industria automotriz. Formación

• Experiencia en la industria automotriz.

• Desarrollar, probar y liberar componentes de dirección.
• Gestionar procesos de cambio de ingeniería y validar prototipos.
• Coordinar con proveedores y apoyar acciones de mejora de calidad.

Descripción del empleo

Design & Release Steering Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, validating, and releasing parts for assigned programs. The D&R also seeks design improvements to enhance quality, reduce costs, and optimize weight. The Steering D&R must ensure parts comply with corporate and local requirements, considering WCR (Worldwide Customer Requirements), ES (Engineering Specification), SDS (System Design Specification), as well as manufacturing and assembly needs. The engineer is responsible for parts incorporation at the assembly plant and evaluating engineering changes requested by suppliers to ensure they do not adversely affect manufacturing and assembly processes. Additionally, the engineer identifies DTCs (Design to Cost) and develops solutions to resolve and prevent them.

Qualifications

• High-level English proficiency
• Experience with FEDEBOM / SAP / APICS or similar product development tools
• Familiarity with AIMS (Web-based issue tracking)
• Knowledge of WERS (UNIX mainframe change management) / SAP or similar
• Working knowledge of TeamCenter
• Basic knowledge of CATIA and MATLAB
• Understanding of quality tools like APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA
• Experience with Minitab for data analysis
• Knowledge of material properties and production processes (foundry, die casting, stamping, machining, forming, assembly)
• Understanding of GPDS/APQP and robustness engineering disciplines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (8D, 5D, root cause analysis)
• Basic understanding of Six Sigma methodology
• Knowledge of automotive industry environment and basic 3D CAD skills, preferably CATIA
• Familiarity with change control processes

Responsibilities

1. Understand and apply Ford's steering development process
2. Develop, test, and release steering components such as I-shaft, hydraulic RV gear, hydraulic lines, steering gear, steering column, hydraulic cooler, reservoir, and linkages
3. Meet program cost, weight, quality, performance, and timing targets
4. Apply GPDS process and robust engineering disciplines
5. Implement Six Sigma and 8D problem-solving techniques
6. Develop ESOW and participate in sourcing activities
7. Follow TDR process and release parts through FEDEBOM and WERS
8. Support change control and update BOMs as needed
9. Manage engineering change processes and validate prototypes
10. Support validation, durability, and functional testing as per SDS, WCR & ES
11. Coordinate with suppliers and support quality improvement actions
12. Monitor production quality, analyze warranty data, and implement containment and prevention measures
13. Assist global steering team with supplier management and manufacturing support
14. Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives
