MillerKnoll is seeking a skilled CAD/Design Engineer to drive product development from concept to mass production. You will develop detailed specifications, drawings, and BOMs, and collaborate with Engineering and cross‑functional teams to ensure timely prototype execution and a high level of craftsmanship.

The role emphasizes CAD leadership on large projects, experience with CREO, CNC wood programming, and knowledge of DFMEA/PFMEA.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial, mechanical, mechatronics, or related engineering field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in product development.
  • Lean manufacturing (preferred, not required).
  • Experience in scrap reduction, and cost improvement.
  • Advanced English communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Experience designing plywood and solid wood upholstered chair frames and foam (preferred).
  • 5 years of professional CAD experience with leading large CAD projects (CREO preferred).
  • Proven CNC wood programming experience.

Responsabilidades

  • Develop and manage new product designs from concept to mass production.
  • Develop detailed product specifications, drawings, BOMs, and work with tooling as needed.
  • Maintain the highest level of craftsmanship and quality in development and introduction of new products.
  • Create an accurate engineering specification drawing with minimum direction.
  • Make modifications to existing CAD drawings to support manufacturing and purchasing maintenance.
  • Manage all CAD activities within a project.
  • Participates within cross-functional product development team.
  • Coordinate with Quality to assure process capability.
  • Supports existing production regarding day-to-day production.
  • Supports cost savings initiatives.

General Purpose

Responsible for supporting launch of new products by working in conjunction with Engineering and cross‑functional teams.

Essential Functions
  • Work with internal and external partners toward a timely execution of prototypes
  • Develop and manage new product designs from concept to mass production
  • Develop detailed product specifications, drawings, BOMs, and work with tooling as needed.
  • Maintain the highest level of craftsmanship and quality in the development and introduction of new products
  • Create an accurate engineering specification drawing with minimum direction
  • Make modifications to existing CAD drawings to support manufacturing and purchasing maintenance.
  • Manage all CAD activities within a project
  • Participates within cross‑functional product development team
  • Sets an example for others in attitude exhibited and high standards in quality and quantity of work completed.
  • Works to improve one’s technical and organizational skills through educational and training opportunities.
  • Coordinates with Quality to assure process capability
  • Supports existing production regarding day‑to‑day production
  • Supports cost savings initiatives
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Education / Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial, mechanical, mechatronics, or related engineering field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in product development.
  • Lean manufacturing (preferred, not required).
  • Experience in scrap reduction, and cost improvement.
Skills and Abilities
  • Advanced English communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Experience designing and engineering plywood and solid wood upholstered chair frames and foam (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in applied arts preferred or equivalent education and professional experience.
  • 5 years of professional CAD experience with leading large CAD projects (CREO preferred).
  • Proven CNC wood programming experience.
  • Experience with textile CNC cutters (Gerber preferred).
  • ECN and temporary deviation experience.
  • Experience developing, reverse engineering, and designing upholstered furniture.
  • Hands‑on experience with frame construction, foam up, and upholstery is preferred, with a mature sense of comfort and feel.
  • Proven design and problem‑solving skills with a keen understanding of brand aesthetic.
  • Proven experience working with cross‑functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use office automation, communication, software, and tools currently used in the HMI office environment with a basic understanding of the current CAD systems used within the functional area.
  • Exhibits high personal performance standards, the desire and ability to continuously learn, and must be results‑oriented.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional presentation skills.
  • Must be open to new ideas and technologies that enable drafters to work and communicate in new ways.
  • Exhibits ability to work cooperatively both in a team environment and independently.
  • Must be able to maintain a positive attitude in addressing concerns.
  • Must be an assertive, self‑starter with self‑confidence and the ability to represent MillerKnoll in a professional manner to gain a high level of confidence from internal and external contacts.
  • Must be willing to take ownership efficiently, working to drive tasks to completion.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and customers regarding technical specifications and product requirements.
  • Knowledge of engineering tools and methodologies including DFMEA, PFMEA, PPAP, GD&T, lean manufacturing, root cause analysis (8D, 5‑Why, Ishikawa).
  • Ability to understand the corporation’s values, goals and objectives along with key financial drivers.
  • Must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without accommodation.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally when required.
  • BIFMA knowledge is a plus.
