Job Description:

Process Safety Engineer

Huntsman’s Polyurethane division is now looking for a Process Safety Engineer. This Process Safety Engineer is

• Develop and implement site Process Safety (PS) programs. Monitor plant activities to ensure compliance with corporate Process Safety standards and relevant statutory requirements. Also provide PS technical supports to other PU sites in China.
• Assist Process Manager to achieve the Process Safety deliverables of the company.
• This role is located in Caojing.

As the Process Safety Engineer, you will:

• Enhance and thrive a PSM culture and awareness at a high hazard site.
• Collect and calculate PS KPIs and develop PSM report monthly as required and find any opportunities for improvement.
• Maintain the daily operation of the software platform that used for MOC, action tracking and PS related incident investigation.
• Work closely with operational personnel on the implementation of PSM procedures to comply with Huntsman Procedures and local regulatory requirements.
• Lead or participate in risk assessments and hazard studies for projects and process changes, to identify process hazards and risk level.
• Optimize process alarm performance in a sustainable way.
• Work with maintenance team to improve mechanical integrity.
• Manage PSM related actions raised from hazard study, process change, SIL assessment, PSM audit etc.
• Identify PSM training needs for site personnel and maintain the training programs to meet business requirements.
• Lead or participate in PS incident investigation and identify root causes for improvement.
• Assist Process and EHS Manager in managing related activities both internally and externally.
• Provide PS technical support to other PU site (medium and low hazard level) in China if required.
• Other activities required by department Manager.

Skills and experiences required:

• Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably with major in Chemical Engineering or a suitable Science.
• Working in a manufacturing facility with at least 3 years’ experience in Chemical Engineering functions, preferably with implementation experience in Process Safety Management program in chemical plant.
• Familiar with processes of risk assessment, hazard study (HAZOP, LOPA), management of change, mechanical integrity.
• Basic understanding of local laws and regulations on PSM.
• Good documentation capability, plus organizing and planning skills.
• Good skill in Microsoft applications of Words, Excel and Power point.
• Good presentation skill.
• Fluent in Mandarin and good English language both in words and writing.
• Good interpersonal, communicative skills to work with plant personnel from senior to junior level.
• Good team player.
