Job Profile Summary

The Process / Production Engineer is responsible for process design, implementation of process improvements, and troubleshooting to maintain and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of production processes. The role aims to reduce costs, enhance sustainability, and maximize profitability.

The engineer may lead or contribute to developing, configuring, and optimizing production processes from inception through startup and delivery. They solve problems and make process design recommendations to improve installations, reduce total ownership costs, and may execute process improvements as CAPEX projects, acting as project manager from budgeting and design to execution and delivery.

The role involves working closely with Operations management and Maintenance/Technical Managers to ensure an integrated approach to asset and installation design and operation. The level of the engineer depends on organizational size, project scope, and process complexity. In larger organizations, specialization may occur; in smaller sites, responsibilities are broader.

Job Responsibilities

1. Process Design
   • Develop, configure, and optimize production processes from inception to startup and certification.
   • Draft technical project objectives, maintenance proposals, and plans.
   • Determine project specifications aligned with operational requirements and standards.
   • Evaluate and validate design alternatives for optimal solutions.
   • Certify technical accuracy and financial viability of designs.
2. Process Management and Troubleshooting
   • Oversee production processes, supporting daily optimization.
   • Assist troubleshooting efforts, perform root cause analysis, and suggest solutions.
   • Monitor equipment performance and ensure maintenance tasks are performed.
3. Projects
   • Participate in or lead CAPEX projects, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
   • Manage installation and startup of new equipment, providing documentation and instructions.
4. Continuous Improvement
   • Regularly evaluate equipment and processes for efficiency and quality.
   • Implement improvements and develop best practices and innovative solutions.
5. Technical Leadership
   • Stay updated on process management developments.
   • Act as a technical consultant and contribute to technical standards.
6. Compliance
   • Ensure process documentation complies with regulations.
   • Perform risk assessments covering safety, health, and food safety standards.
   • Identify and address hazardous or unsafe situations.
