Hogarth is looking for a Print Specialist

What does a Print Specialist do at Hogarth?

The Print Specialist is a key member of the production team, responsible for ensuring the accurate and efficient execution of print projects for a major global client. This role requires a deep understanding of print production processes, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex projects across multiple regions and languages. The Print Specialist will work closely with creative teams, project managers, and external print vendors to deliver high-quality print materials that meet brand standards and deadlines.

Duties:Artwork Application & Adaptation:

  • Apply and adapt artwork to dielines for a variety of print materials, including packaging, direct mail pieces, point-of-sale (POS) displays, brochures, and other marketing collateral.
  • Ensure artwork is correctly sized, positioned, and formatted for optimal print results across different substrates and printing techniques.
  • Manage version control and ensure the correct artwork is used for each project and region.

Print File Quality Control:

  • Conduct thorough quality control checks on all print files to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with brand guidelines and technical specifications.
  • Verify color accuracy, image resolution, font usage, bleeds, and crop marks.
  • Check for embellishments (varnishes, foils, embossing, etc.) and ensure they are correctly specified and applied.
  • Identify and resolve any potential print production issues before files are sent to vendors.

Print Production File Preparation & Management:

  • Prepare final print-ready files according to vendor specifications, including packaging all necessary assets (fonts, images, linked files).
  • Create clear and concise instructions for print vendors, including printing specifications, finishing requirements, and any special instructions.
  • Manage and organize print files in a structured and accessible manner, adhering to established file naming conventions and archiving procedures.

Vendor Communication & Management:

  • Communicate effectively with print vendors to clarify project requirements, answer questions, and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Provide vendors with accurate and complete print files and instructions.
  • Review and approve proofs to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Assist in vendor selection and evaluation, as needed.

Global Account Support:

  • Understand and adhere to the specific print requirements and processes for the global client account.
  • Manage print projects across multiple regions and languages, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
  • Work with translation teams to ensure accurate translation of text in print materials.
  • Be aware of cultural nuances and adapt print materials accordingly.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to improve print production processes and workflows.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices for print production.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest print technologies and trends.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in print production, preferably within an agency or brand environment.
  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • Expert knowledge of print production processes, including offset, digital, and large format printing.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
  • Experience working on global accounts is highly desirable.
  • Experience with packaging artwork and dielines is a plus.
