Job summary

Spin is seeking a Senior Staff Data & AI Architect to drive its AI-First strategy across data, ML, and platform engineering. You will architect modular, scalable systems connecting data modeling, engineering, and product teams.

Lead governance, reference architectures, and interoperability while mentoring architects and engineers. You will own Databricks/AWS implementations, cost governance, and security considerations in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software or Systems Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field.
• 10+ years in data engineering, data architecture, or software architecture, incl. 5+ years in enterprise/solution architect roles and 3+ years in AI/ML or large-scale data platforms.
• Industry experience in Retail and Fintech, or comparable high-volume regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Define, maintain, and communicate target-state data and AI architecture and multi-year roadmap for lakehouse, streaming, MLOps/LLMOps, and governance.
• Chair design authority forums, document ADRs, ensure solutions align with standards, with trade-offs, cost, and risk analysis.
• Assess platform landscape, detect debt and gaps, sponsor optimization initiatives with measurable benefits.
• Develop and govern reference architectures, patterns, and guidelines (medallion architecture, data contracts, data products, event-driven design).
• Design composable architectures with defined interfaces to enable integration and evolution across platforms and partners.
• Own Databricks Data Intelligence Platform architecture and its AWS integration, including security and cost governance.
• Lead enterprise AI architecture, including model lifecycle, feature stores, observability, drift, and governance.
• Provide architectural direction for Retail/Fintech use cases handling high-volume, low-latency workloads.
• Embed data privacy, security, lineage, and Responsible AI in every design following regulations and standards.
• Mentor architects, engineers, and ML teams; contribute to talent development and hiring.
• Collaborate with Product, Risk, Technology, Security, and Leadership to translate business objectives into technical strategy.
• Define non-functional requirements, SLOs, resilience, DR, observability, and FinOps controls for batch/real-time workloads.
• Evaluate emerging technologies (gen AI, AI agents, data mesh) via PoCs and adoption recommendations.
• Maintain architecture repository, blueprints, and technical documentation as truth.
• Foster ownership and DevOps/DataOps culture within engineering teams.
• Champion AI-First mindset by embedding AI considerations in architecture and enabling AI tools across lifecycle.
