The Incentives Development team drives innovation and excellence in every project, blending technical expertise with creative problem-solving to create a best-in-class user experience. As a Staff Backend Software Developer, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team working on the Varicent Incentives: a single-page web application using React and Redux that connects to a REST API written in C#, hosted in AWS.

What You’ll Do
  • Build new features for the REST API and enhance the AWS infrastructure on a modern tech stack using C# and AWS CloudFormation.
  • Collaborate with product management, designers, and QA to implement features and enhancements.
  • Participate in pull request reviews to ensure high code quality and share insights with the team.
  • Optimize application performance to ensure scalability and low latency on large datasets.
  • Develop features using AWS services such as Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, and Redshift.
  • Automate deployments and CI/CD pipelines using Infrastructure-as-Code technologies.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks to ensure high availability and uptime.
What You Bring

Technical Skills:

  • 7+ years of backend development experience, with a focus on data-intensive applications.
  • Proficiency in at least one backend language (e.g., C#, Java, C++).
  • Experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, Redshift).
  • Understanding of ELT/ETL processes and challenges in handling large-scale data.
  • Understanding of software design fundamentals and clean, maintainable code.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • English communication skills; B2 level English or higher is required.
  • Ability to learn our development process, codebase, coding standards, and tools.
  • Participate in team meetings, collaborate with colleagues, and communicate progress and challenges.
  • Deliver small, well-defined tasks or bug fixes to demonstrate code quality.
  • Increase independence on assigned tasks and take on more complex features over time.
  • Lead development of larger features or services critical to the ICM application.
  • Ensure scalability and reliability through testing and performance tuning.
  • Troubleshoot defects and understand critical parts of the application with limited supervision.
  • Meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality work; continuously learn and stay current with industry trends.
  • Suggest improvements to the development process to boost efficiency and productivity.
  • Participate in roadmap discussions and cost estimation to shape future work.

Other

  • This role requires working within Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours. Candidates from outside EST should be prepared to adjust working hours to align with EST when necessary.
  • Fully remote role offering flexibility to work from anywhere; focus on results, collaboration, and autonomy.
