Postdoctoral Fellowship
Intelligent Systems for Human-Robot Interaction in Manufacturing Processes
Host Institution: Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the IPN (Cinvestav), Ramos Arizpe.

Duration: 24 months (with the possibility of extension, subject to SECIHTI guidelines)

Candidate Profile
Required Education:
Completed PhD in one of the following areas:
• Computer Engineering
• Computer Systems
• Artificial Intelligence
• Mechatronics
• Electronics
• Computer Science or related areas
Desired Knowledge and Skills:
• Programming in Python, C++, Java
• Experience with neural networks
• Industrial Robotics (preferably ROS2)
• English proficiency
Main Activities
The selected candidate will actively participate in the development of an AI-based expert system for Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) in intelligent manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
1. Research and Modeling:
o Review of the state of the art and selection of AI models.
o Design of the context modeling protocol (MCP/A2A) for the interaction between ROS2 and LLMs.
2. Technical Implementation:
o Construction of a testbed with sensors, cameras, and a KUKA robot.
o Development of control interfaces in ROS2.
o Integration of AI models with the system.
3. Evaluation and Experimentation:
o Testing of NLP, scene/object recognition, and advanced prompting techniques (CoT).
o Generation of executable code using Code as Policy (CaP).
o Execution of collaborative tasks in real-world manufacturing environments.
4. Validation and Generalization:
o Validation with users and testing with other robots in the laboratory.
o Evaluation of the system's scalability to different environments.
Financial Support (Provided by SECIHTI)
• Monthly stipend: $27,000 MXN
• Installation and relocation support: $36,000 MXN (one-time payment at the beginning of the stay, if it involves a change of residence)
