The Universidad de Córdoba invites applications for a fully funded PhD position in Synthetic Biology as part of the C5 Project, supported by the European Innovation Council Pathfinder program. The project focuses on the development of innovative Solar-to-X technology, aiming to convert sunlight, water, and CO₂ into valuable chemicals and fuels using engineered cyanobacteria. The successful candidate will join an international consortium including Charité (Berlin), Universiteit Leiden, Wageningen University, and SME INSociety.
Requirements
– MSc degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field
– Experience in genetic modification of microorganisms, preferably cyanobacteria
– Background in Synthetic Biology is highly desirable
– Ability to conduct experiments independently and work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
– Strong organizational and project management skills, with a proactive approach
– Demonstrated enthusiasm for scientific research and innovation
– Excellent communication skills in English (Spanish is not required)
