Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Elevator Mechanic to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. Install, maintain and repair elevators and related systems to ensure safe, reliable operation while meeting safety and environmental requirements.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and a Journeyman’s Certificate, plus knowledge of electrical codes, blueprints, and test equipment, with strong communication and cross-cultural skills for an international setting.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining and repairing elevators and related equipment.
• Familiar with electrical codes and safety practices.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and engineering drawings.
• Excellent customer service and teamwork in diverse environments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe workplace with safety as a priority.
• Comply with EH&S and QA requirements and provide documentation.
• Locate and diagnose trouble using test lamps and meters.
• Disassemble defective units and repair or replace parts.
• Lubricate bearings and other components to reduce friction.
• Install or repair transformers, switchboards, controllers and related equipment from blueprints.
• Perform preventive maintenance following published schedules.
• Conduct tests using voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters and other tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the position.
