TE Connectivity Corporation in Hermosillo, Mexico seeks a Staff Product Engineer for Automotive Connectors to drive product innovation, engage key customers, and deliver cost-effective solutions across the value stream.

You will lead New Product Release processes, oversee ECN activities to improve manufacturability, perform reliability analyses, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet industry standards and customer requirements.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
• 5+ years automotive engineering experience.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
• Proficiency in CREO, SolidWorks or high-level 3D CAD software; GD&T experience.

Responsabilidades

• Customer Engagement: primary engineering contact for key customers.
• Technical Leadership: manage New Product Release process for new part numbers and ECN to improve manufacturability.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: support quotes and communicate manufacturing challenges to Product Management; assist TE HMO facility; collaborate with Quality Engineering on root cause analysis.
• Industry Standards: apply USCAR, GMW, Ford specs; translate drawings to manufacturable prints; ensure compliance with automotive standards.
• Product Launch & Support: assist with SOPs, manage TE Engineering systems, generate samples and conduct evaluations.
• Product Extension & Innovation: translate customer needs into derivative opportunities; apply TE products to meet specs; seek cost savings and profitability.

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Staff Product Engineer to join our Signal and Power Connectivity (S&PC) area at our Hermosillo Automotive Plant. This role is crucial in strengthening our business position with customers and developing cost-effective product solutions. The ideal candidate will be a key player in our Mexico Connectors Value Stream, driving product innovation and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Customer Engagement and Relationship Management
  • Serve as the primary engineering contact for key customers
  • Foster and grow strong customer relationships
  • Identify and document product requirements through direct customer communication
• Technical Leadership
  • Manage the New Product Release process for new part numbers
  • Lead the TE Engineering change process (ECN) to enhance product manufacturability
  • Perform engineering analyses and risk assessments for product reliability
  • Determine and oversee product qualification testing for automotive industry standards
• Cross-functional Collaboration
  • Support business office in potential new business quotes
  • Communicate with Product Management on manufacturing challenges impacting product cost
  • Provide engineering support to TE HMO manufacturing facility
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering on customer issues through root cause analysis
• Industry Standards and Specifications
  • Understand and apply industry and customer specifications to product development
  • Translate customer drawings into manufacturable, detailed prints for TE facilities
  • Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards (USCAR2, GMW3191, Ford specs, etc.)
• Product Launch and Ongoing Support
  • Support new product line launches before and after Start of Production (SOP)
  • Manage TE Engineering systems
  • Generate samples and conduct technical evaluations as needed
• Product Extension and Innovation
  • In collaboration with PM office, translate customer needs into potential derivative business.
  • Collaborate with TE product/process experts to refine concepts
  • Assess and apply TE products to meet customer specifications
  • Focus on increasing profit margins through innovative design
  • Develop VAVE cost-savings ideas and implement or support viable projects to improve profitability

What your background should look like

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering
• 5+ years of automotive engineering experience or equivalent
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English
• Excellent communication and presentation skills (oral and written)
• Strong problem-solving skills and effective management abilities
• Extensive knowledge of automotive connectors, terminals, and cable assemblies requirements/testing (USCAR), materials, and processes
• Proficiency in CREO, SolidWorks, or high-level 3D CAD software
• Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and stack-up analysis
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies or Red X methodology (preferred)
• Knowledge and application of AI tools to enhance productivity

Required Skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and multitask effectively
• Strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration
• Experience working with quality, supply chain, operations, manufacturing, sales, and marketing teams
• Proficiency in conducting specification reviews
• Ability to apply AI tools to enhance productivity and innovation
• US Visa required.
