About The Role

The Content Strategist is a crucial, client-facing role responsible for day-to-day client deliverables, creating and managing custom client strategies, and communicating with clients and internal stakeholders. The Strategist primarily handles Enterprise clients and is expected to have a deep understanding of the service line and how it impacts other areas of business to create a holistic marketing strategy.

Please note: internally, this role is titled Account Strategist, Content & SEO.

What You'll Do
  • Strategic Excellence and Best Practices: Create custom strategies and implement best practices to achieve NSMs. Use project phase as a foundation for the initial client strategy while leveraging overall marketing goals, current campaigns, and historical performance to optimize strategies over the client lifecycle, following Directive best practices.
  • Work closely with the Associate Director (AsD) when roadblocks arise that impact strategy and goal attainment.
  • Craft creative briefs and compelling content campaigns with a focus on ideation based on competitor and audience insights.
  • Apply best practices to ensure clients are positioned to exceed goals, including: LTV:CAC modeling, Customer Generation, Share of SERP, Content Production.
  • Goal Setting: Use available data to set client goals during engagement. Goals must be reviewed and approved by the Associate Director (AsD), who should attend the meeting.
  • Data sources include Google Analytics, CRM data, SEMRush reporting, and Ahrefs reporting.
  • All goals must be approved by the AsD before presenting to the client with the AsD.
  • Project Management: Ensure the planned strategy is executed. Use project management to assign responsibilities across the Directive team and the client, ensuring progress toward goals.
  • Use Asana for project management.
  • In pods with Project Managers, partner with them to ensure tasks are created, assigned, due dates met, and communicated to the client.
  • Collaborate with content writers and designers to complete content campaigns on time while maintaining quality to client standards.
  • Internal and External Communication: Serve as the main interface between clients and the team. Build relationships beyond deliverables and proactively communicate with clients and internal leadership to drive results.
  • When communicating with clients, set expectations for timelines and deliverables, share progress, and use shared channels (e.g., Slack) between bi-weekly meetings.
  • When communicating with internal leadership, report roadblocks, opportunities for account growth, and changes in client accounts.
  • Reporting: Regularly report to clients on progress and impact. Cadence includes bi-weekly client meetings, monthly reports, quarterly reports, and two bi-annual business reviews. Note NSM progress and ongoing deliverables in meetings.
What You'll Bring
  • Proven track record of implementing SEO principles and content strategy: keyword research, on-page optimization, and link building.
  • Analytical insight: ability to analyze website traffic and SEO metrics using tools like Google Analytics.
  • Strong communication skills: comfortable facing clients and owning relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with industry tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMRush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog/crawling tools.
  • Proven organizational, project, and time management skills.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for digital marketing, SEO, and content.
  • Agency experience required.
  • B2B tech and/or SaaS experience required.

      • Strategists should regularly look for opportunities to grow client business with Directive (e.g., expanding to another service line or increasing current service line budgets).
      • Referrals are encouraged at key moments (e.g., when a point of contact starts a new job).

Work Environment Requirements
