Job Description

Job Title: Operations Manager – Look and Signage, Wasserman Live
Location:Mexico City, Mexico
Reports to:General Manager / Project Director, Wasserman Live

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamicOperations Managerto lead all operational aspects of the FIFA World Cup 2026. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operational activities, ensuring seamless coordination across multiple functions, and driving successful execution of the project in line with strategic goals. You will lead a team while closely working with senior management, vendors, and other key stakeholders to mitigate risks, control budgets, and maintain high standards of quality, safety, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Management
    • Lead, motivate, and support the operations team, fostering a collaborative environment and providing expertise to consider all possible actions and outcomes.
    • Drive operational excellence by ensuring that the team is well-equipped, aligned, and effectively contributing to the project’s success.
    • Develop and maintain a team culture of responsibility, accountability, and proactive problem-solving.
  • Operational Strategy & Risk Management
    • Work closely with senior project management to set strategic goals for the operational delivery of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
    • Take the lead on risk management by anticipating potential operational challenges and developing mitigation strategies to address them.
    • Forward-plan operational needs and ensure that contingency plans are in place to address any disruptions.
  • Operational Information Flow
    • Ensure clear and consistent communication of operational updates, progress, and key information to senior management and other relevant stakeholders.
    • Present regular reports on the status of operations, identifying risks, issues, and potential solutions.
  • Budget Control & Financial Oversight
    • Oversee budget controls for all operational aspects of the project in collaboration with the project accountant, ensuring costs are managed effectively and within the allocated budget.
    • Highlight and manage any financial risks, ensuring alignment with project expectations.
  • Warehousing & Distribution Management
    • Direct and manage all warehousing activities, ensuring the efficient storage, handling, and distribution of materials to venues together with the logistics lead.
    • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of all goods and equipment to project sites, maintaining optimal operational flow.
  • Supply Chain Operations
    • Direct and control the supply chain operations, ensuring the timely procurement and delivery of necessary materials, products, and services.
    • Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and vendors to ensure consistent quality, delivery, and performance.
  • Key Operational Functions
    • Oversee essential operational areas such as plant hire, accreditation, health and safety (H&S), sustainability, fleet management, and transportation.
    • Ensure that all operational elements align with the broader project objectives, including sustainability goals and safety standards.
  • Health & Safety & Compliance
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant working environment across all project activities.
    • Ensure that all operational functions adhere to relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Cross-Department Coordination
    • Maintain strong working relationships with other Department Heads to ensure effective coordination across all aspects of the project, from logistics to design, installation, and beyond.
    • Facilitate smooth communication and collaboration between teams to prevent operational silos and ensure cohesive project delivery.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management
    • Build strong, trusted relationships with key decision-makers within the FIFA project team and other stakeholders.
    • Regularly meet face-to-face with the client to provide updates, address concerns, and ensure alignment with project objectives.
    • Manage client expectations by proactively identifying challenges and providing tailored solutions.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Maintain a focus on quality at all times, ensuring that all operational processes, deliveries, and activities meet the high standards expected by the project and its stakeholders.
    • Implement and oversee regular quality assurance processes to ensure consistency and reliability in operations.

Key Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven experience in operations management, ideally in large-scale projects with complex logistical needs (event management, construction, or similar industries).
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and motivating teams to achieve operational excellence.
  • Extensive experience in risk management and forward planning within a fast-paced project environment.
  • In-depth understanding of supply chain management, warehousing, distribution, and fleet management.
  • Solid financial acumen with experience in budget controls and cost management.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, sustainability practices, and relevant legal compliance standards.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to effectively present information to senior management and external clients.
  • Proficiency in operations management software and IT systems used in project tracking and reporting.
  • A proactive problem-solver with the ability to address operational challenges efficiently and effectively.
  • Fluent in English (knowledge of French is advantageous but not required).
