The Opportunity:

OVERVIEW

Un director de operaciones es responsable de operar de manera efectiva una planta y un almacén para producir de manera segura productos de calidad entregados a tiempo dentro de un presupuesto y cumpliendo con todos los requisitos reglamentarios. En esta función, el director de operaciones lidera el desarrollo y la implementación de un plan estratégico que respalda la hoja de ruta estratégica de la región y aborda las necesidades específicas de la planta para seguir siendo competitivos mediante iniciativas de mejora continua. Con base en este plan estratégico, el director de operaciones define y asigna trabajo para mejorar continuamente la operación mediante la implementación/mantenimiento de sistemas en toda la planta de acuerdo con la orientación corporativa/regional, integración del trabajo interfuncional y aumento sistemático de la capacidad/eficacia individual en toda la organización.

A Operation Director is accountable for effectively operating a plant and warehouse to safely produce quality products delivered on time within a Budget and meeting all regulatory requirements. In this role the Operation Director leads the development and implementation of a strategic plan which supports the region's strategic roadmap and addresses plant-specific needs to remain competitive through continuous improvement initiatives. Based on this strategic plan, the Operation Director defines and assigns work to continuously improve the operation by implementing/maintaining plant-wide systems in accordance with corporate/regional guidance, integrating cross-functional work, and systematically increasing individual capability/effectiveness throughout the organization.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES (KPIs)

Asegura que la planta cumpla con todos los requisitos reglamentarios (seguridad, medio ambiente, calidad) a través del desarrollo, mantenimiento, implementación y documentación de los sistemas de toda la planta según los estándares corporativos/regionales. Ejecuta la función de responsable Sanitario ante el departamento de salud del gobierno para el funcionamiento adecuado de la planta. Asegura que la planta adquiera materias primas, programe la producción, produzca productos de calidad según lo programado y envíe productos desde el almacén para cumplir con los requisitos del cliente/negocio dentro del presupuesto financiero acordado. Colabora con otros gerentes regionales y el director de planificación/logística de Avantor para garantizar que se implementen sistemas de cadena de suministro efectivos para mejorar continuamente el servicio al cliente, reducir costos y aumentar el flujo de caja. Desarrolla y mejora la capacidad organizacional/individual a través del desarrollo de relaciones sólidas con los empleados, planes de desarrollo personal, planificación de la sucesión y preparación para el desempeño. El director de operaciones es responsable de asegurar que la moral de la planta y las relaciones entre empleados y sindicatos respalden los objetivos de la planta y de la empresa. Lidera el desarrollo del presupuesto de la planta de fabricación y los costos estándar. Asegura la gestión constante del costo del presupuesto, los programas continuos de reducción de costos y la utilización efectiva de las herramientas de excelencia operativa para impulsar la mejora continua en el sitio. Asegura que todos los niveles de la organización entiendan/controlen su impacto personal en el desempeño financiero de la planta a través de expectativas/objetivos claros, seguimiento del desempeño y entrenamiento. Asegura la gestión del flujo de efectivo de la planta al presupuestar y controlar los gastos de capital y las inversiones en inventario según las políticas corporativas. Asegura la mejora continua en la eficiencia del equipo/proceso para cumplir con los requisitos comerciales (costo, seguridad, calidad, servicio, medio ambiente). Colabora con el Gerente de Proyectos Principales para identificar y abordar grandes oportunidades de mejora dentro de la planta o en la planta. Asegura que la condición/apariencia de las instalaciones se mantenga y cumpla con los requisitos reglamentarios mientras mejora continuamente para cumplir con los requisitos comerciales/clientes. Asegura que el equipo y el proceso sean capaces y produzcan poco desperdicio, para cumplir con las especificaciones del producto y que existan sistemas para mantener/mejorar continuamente. Asegura la operación efectiva del almacén, incluyendo: fila de material eficiente, condiciones de almacenamiento adecuadas, gestión de inventarios, envíos a tiempo y precisos a los clientes, y el logro de otras métricas de distribución clave. Trabaja en colaboración con clientes, marketing, empresas de logística, etc., para cumplir con las expectativas de servicio, costo, normativas y calidad. Trabaja en colaboración con Marketing y R&D para desarrollar, planificar y lanzar nuevos productos en el sitio asegurando la capacidad del proceso; el proyecto cumple con el presupuesto financiero y la transferencia exitosa del producto a la fabricación.

FUNCIONES ESPECÍFICAS/NO ESENCIALES DEL DEPARTAMENTO:

Asegura que los recursos apropiados estén disponibles para apoyar las operaciones y satisfacer las necesidades comerciales. Desafía a la organización para garantizar que los recursos sean necesarios y se utilicen por completo en todas las funciones de la planta. Mantiene políticas y procedimientos de acuerdo con los estándares de Avantor y las regulaciones locales. Identifica si los problemas deben resolverse y los eleva al siguiente nivel. Mantiene relaciones efectivas con los empleados basadas en la confianza mutua, el trabajo en equipo y la responsabilidad. Lidera colaborativamente las negociaciones sindicales con los recursos corporativos. Trabaja en colaboración con las funciones corporativas/regionales en el día a día. Otras funciones asignadas con o sin adaptaciones. Puesto elegible a trabajo flexible de acuerdo a las necesidades del negocio.

CONDICIONES DE TRABAJO:

El Director de Operaciones debe viajar periódicamente además de trabajar en contacto con clientes, proveedores y grupos profesionales.

Insures plant meets all regulatory requirements(safety, environmental, quality) through the development, maintenance, implementation and documentation to plant wide systems based on corp/regional standards. Performs the function of Sanitary Responsible before the government health department for the proper functioning of the plant Insures plant procures raw materials, schedules production, produces quality product to schedule, and ships product from the warehouse to meet customer/business requirements within agreed to financial budget Collaborates with other Regional Managers and the Avantor Director of Planning/Logistic to ensure effective supply chain systems are in place to continuously improve service to the customer, reduce cost, and increase cash flow Develops and improves organizational/individual capability through the development of strong employee relationships, personal development plans, succession planning, and performance coaching. The Operation Director is accountable to insure plant morale and employee/union relations support plant/business objectives. Leads development of manufacturing plant budget and standard costs Insures constant management of cost to budget, ongoing cost reduction programs, and effective utilization of operational excellence tools to drive continuous improvement at the site. Ensures all levels of the organization understand/controls their personal impact the plant´s financial performance thought clear expectations/goaling, performance tracking, and coaching Insures management of plant cash flow by budgeting and controlling capital expenditure and inventory investments in accordance with corporative policies Insures continuous improvement in equipment/process efficiency to meet business requirements (cost, safety, quality, service, environmental). Collaborates with Manager of Major Projects to identify and address large pant or intraplant improvement opportunities Insures facility condition/appearance is maintained and meets regulatory requirements while continuously improving to meet business/customer requirements. Insures equipment and process are capable and low waste, to meet product specifications and systems are in place to maintain/ continuously improve Insures the effective operation of the warehouse include: efficient material row, appropriate storage conditions, managing inventories, on-time and accurate shipments to the customers, and attainment of other key distributions metrics. Works collaboratively with customers, Marketing, logistic companies, etc. to meet service, cost, regulatory and quality expectations. Work collaboratively with Marketing and R&D to develop, plan, and launch new products at the site insuring process capability; project meets financial budget, and successful product transfer to manufacturing Position eligible for flexible working according to business needs.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Operation Director must travel periodically plus work with contacts at customers, suppliers, and professional groups.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education/training, experience, and certifications)

  • Carrera profesional en un campo relacionado (Negocios/Ingeniería, preferiblemente ingeniería química), Six Sigma y/o certificación Lean como una ventaja. MBA un plus / BS/BA in a related field (Business/Engineering- chemical engineering preferred), Six Sigma and/or Lean certification a plus. MBA a plus.
  • Diez (10) años en actividades orientadas a las operaciones con al menos cinco (5) años en funciones gerenciales claves, directamente responsables del desempeño individual y del equipo. Se prefiere una amplia experiencia en fabricación de productos químicos con capacidad demostrada para trabajar en colaboración con todas las funciones para respaldar un crecimiento agresivo. Uso demostrado de técnicas y metodologías de SPC y OpEx para liderar los esfuerzos de mejora continua a través de la resolución efectiva de problemas y la implementación del plan de acciones correctivas.
  • Ten (10) years in operations-oriented activities with at least five (5) years in key management roles directly responsible for individual and team performance. Extensive chemical manufacturing experience preferred with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all functions to support aggressive growth. Demonstrated use of SPC and OpEx techniques and methodology to lead continuous improvement efforts through effective problem solving and implementation of corrective actions plan.
