JOB SUMMARY
The Welder/Fabricator III will fabricate metal components to assemble mechanical assemblies, pressure vessels using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements. Weld separately or in combination, using aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloys Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using GTAW, GTMW, electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment. The Welder/Fabricator III may install or repair equipment, such as lead pipes and pressure vessels. Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges, calipers or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary:
· Interpretation of mechanical drawings, includingweld requirement symbology and adherence to welding codes
· Knowledge of wire and filler materials applications for various steel alloys
· Working knowledge of welding fixtures andweldset up parameters (amps, volts, etc.)
· Check all part dimensions compared to print before welding
· Use conventional and precision measuring instruments
· Process inspection, certification, and documentation
· Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools
· Maintain safe and clean workplace, keeping area free of contamination
Other duties may include:
· Knowledge of TIG/MIG welding on stainless steel, stell, and other metals such as silver brazing jobs.
· Welding equipment maintenance, such as assuring best condition of machine, tooling and fixture. Maintain minor repairs and cleaning the operator, report damages, defects, and wear to supervisor and maintenance department.
· May require comparison of kit with BOM, 3 view, isometric, or other prints details, reporting discrepancies to Production Control.
· Check all welds if possible by sight pipe for penetration, discoloration, contaminants, uniformity, straightness, size, neatness to customer specifications and to insure quality
· Make appropriate time and data entry for all work completion on routing sheet and bar code system.
· Measure completed jobs to meet print specs by using appropriate tools
· Weld parts to print and required standards
· Ability to work independently and may help supervisor with training process of new employees
· May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the area supervisor
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
· Familiar with tool structure
· Familiar with operating procedure of laser engraving & welding machine.
· Proficient in assigned welding techniques
· Knowledge of wire and filler materials applications for various steel alloys
· May be required to be proficient in blue-print reading
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
· 3-5 years of welding experience required
· Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Qualified Welder - API 1104 Gas or Section 9 Boiler and Pressure Vessel Certification a plus – Will train right candidate.
· Strong fabrication skills working with sheet metal, stainless and other alloys
· MIG Welding, TIG Welding, Spot Welding, Orbital Welding a plus.
· Experience welding SCH 40 & 80 Pipe & Fittings
