Job Summary

The Welder/Fabricator III fabricates metal components to assemble mechanical assemblies and pressure vessels, utilizing welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements. Responsibilities include welding aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloys using GTAW, GTMW, electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment. The role may also involve installing or repairing equipment such as lead pipes and pressure vessels, inspecting work for defects, and measuring work pieces to ensure compliance with specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Interpret mechanical drawings, including weld requirement symbology and adherence to welding codes.
  2. Apply knowledge of wire and filler materials for various steel alloys.
  3. Set up welding fixtures and parameters (amps, volts, etc.).
  4. Check all part dimensions against prints before welding.
  5. Use conventional and precision measuring instruments.
  6. Perform process inspections, certifications, and documentation.
  7. Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools.
  8. Maintain a safe and clean workplace, free of contamination.
  9. Possess knowledge of TIG/MIG welding on stainless steel, steel, and other metals, including silver brazing.
  10. Maintain and repair welding equipment, report damages, and perform minor repairs.
  11. Compare kit with BOM, 3-view, isometric, or other print details, reporting discrepancies.
  12. Inspect welds for quality, including penetration, discoloration, contaminants, and neatness.
  13. Complete time and data entry for work on routing sheets and barcode systems.
  14. Measure completed jobs to meet print specifications.
  15. Weld parts according to print and standards.
  16. Work independently and assist in training new employees.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Job Qualifications
Knowledge Requirements
  • Familiarity with tool structures and operating procedures of laser engraving and welding machines.
  • Proficiency in welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and orbital welding.
  • Knowledge of wire and filler materials for various steel alloys.
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading is preferred.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 3-5 years of welding experience required.
  • Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • Qualified Welder with API 1104 Gas or Section 9 Boiler and Pressure Vessel Certification is a plus (training available).
  • Strong fabrication skills with sheet metal, stainless steel, and other alloys.
  • Experience with MIG, TIG, Spot, and Orbital Welding is advantageous.
  • Experience welding SCH 40 & 80 Pipe & Fittings.
