An International School in Guadalajara is seeking a School Nurse to provide direct medical care, promote health education, and ensure a safe learning environment. This role involves collaboration with staff and families to support the students' health and academic success. Ideal candidates will have an RN license and experience in pediatric or public health settings.

Formación

  • Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics or public health.

Purpose of Role

The School Nurse plays a critical role in promoting the health and well-being of students and staff within the school community. The nurse provides direct medical care, health education, and guidance, ensuring a safe and healthy learning environment. The role involves collaboration with staff, families, and external healthcare providers to support student health and academic success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff.
  • Assess and manage students' acute and chronic health conditions during school hours.
  • Administer prescribed medications and maintain accurate medical records in compliance with confidentiality policies.
  • Monitor immunization records and ensure compliance with local health regulations.
  • Identify contagious diseases and follow appropriate reporting and isolation protocols.
  • Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans for students with specific medical needs.
  • Promote health education and preventive care programs within the school community.
  • Serve as a liaison between school personnel, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Maintain an organized and well-equipped school clinic.
  • Participate in school safety planning and emergency response procedures.
  • Support mental health awareness and refer students to appropriate resources when necessary.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license – required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) – preferred
  • CPR and First Aid Certification – required
  • Certification in School Nursing – desirable
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent health
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics, public health, or school settings
  • Previous experience working with children or adolescents – highly valued
  • Familiarity with educational environments and multidisciplinary teamwork
