Formación

  • 5+ years in injection molding and tooling development.
  • Advanced English and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Hands-on use of scientific molding on molding machines and equipment.
  • Strong DFM knowledge including hot runners, cooling, venting, ejection, materials.
  • CAD/3D modeling experience and basic CAE flow analysis.
  • Familiarity with GD&T and technical drawings; project ownership experience.

Responsabilidades

  • Lead tooling and mold development, supplier management, CAE validation, and approvals.
  • Own end-to-end mold development from qualification to launch readiness.
  • Optimize molding with DOE, cavity pressure data, and statistics for production windows.
  • Correlate CAE with process data to improve yield and reduce risk.
  • Manage schedules, budgets, milestones, and technical documents.
  • Provide tooling and process troubleshooting and support.
  • Drive corrective actions with operations and suppliers for continuous improvement.

Your Job

Join our Transportation & Industrial Solutions team as a Mold Process Engineer Guadalajara Sur reporting into Rochester Hills Design Center and accelerate your career by leading mold tooling and process development initiatives that directly impact product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and successful product launches. In this role, you will collaborate with global cross-functional teams to develop robust manufacturing solutions, optimize molding processes, and drive continuous improvement across our operations.

Our Team

You will be part of the Transportation & Industrial Solutions organization, supporting new product introductions and manufacturing excellence while partnering closely with Mold Design, Operations, Product Design, and external suppliers to deliver innovative connectivity solutions.

What You Will Do
  • Lead new tooling and mold development initiatives, including supplier management, DFM reviews, tooling approvals, CAE validation, and qualification activities.
  • Own the end-to-end mold development process, from qualification criteria and scientific molding development through launch readiness and production transfer.
  • Optimize molding processes using cavity pressure data, DOE methodologies, and statistical analysis to establish robust production windows.
  • Correlate CAE simulation results with process and product performance data to improve manufacturability and reduce development risk.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, milestones, and technical documentation to ensure successful execution.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise for tooling, molding processes, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Partner with operations and suppliers to implement corrective actions and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in injection molding and tooling development.
  • Advanced English
  • Hands-on experience applying scientific molding principles on molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of tooling systems and Design for Manufacturability (DFM), including hot runners, cooling systems, venting, ejection systems, and mold materials.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to molding and tooling processes.
  • Experience with CAD/3D modeling tools and basic CAE flow analysis.
  • Familiarity with GD&T interpretation and technical drawings.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including schedule, budget, qualification criteria, and launch readiness ownership.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or related field.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent problem‑solving certification.
  • RJG Master Molder I/II, AIM, or equivalent scientific molding certification.
  • Experience with new tooling development, supplier coordination, and on-site tool qualification activities.
  • Experience within transportation, automotive, or connector manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency with Moldflow, Moldex3D, Sigmasoft, or similar simulation software.
  • Experience using ERP/PLM systems such as SAP, Windchill, Teamcenter, or similar platforms.
  • Advanced Excel and NX experience preferred.
