Flowserve Corporation in Mexico seeks a Design Engineer to prepare complex 3D/CAD drawings and BOMs for skid-packaged compressor and vacuum systems. You will create layouts for pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, valves and piping, ensuring compliance with global standards and specifications.

The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and proficiency in SolidWorks and Windchill, with knowledge of ASME B31.1/31.3 and EN13480.

Formación

• Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 2–3 years' experience in industrial pressure piping design.
• Proficient with 3D modelling and 2D drafting software (SolidWorks or equivalent).
• Experience with GD&T and piping codes (ASME B31.1/B31.3, EN13480).

We are currently seeking a qualified Design Engineering to prepare complex, 3D/CAD design drawings & Bill of Material (BOM) for engineered compressor- and vacuum skidded packages for customers and manufacturing, in accordance with global engineering rulebooks, standards, regulations, directives and specifications. Typical system layouts consist of skid mounted liquid ring vacuum pumps/compressors, auxiliary mechanical seal support systems, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, valves, instrumentation and pressure piping as well as electrical equipment. The position requires an individual with strong mechanical aptitude and relentless attention to detail and quality output considering strict HSE/HFE requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and prepare drawings, plans, P&ID's, layouts and BOM from engineering specifications
• Review and interpret associated design specifications for each project
• Select materials and components based on project specifications and compatibility
• Creation of the manufacturing documents required for the customer order, including accessories: bills of materials, drawings, instructions, SAP master data, including export controls
• Confirm overall design for functional feasibility with Product Engineering and Project Management
• Application of design principles, such as functional and manufacturing-oriented design according to national and international standards and guidelines
• Operate 3D CAD station, preferably DS Solid Works and PLM preferably Windchill
• Verify and implement drawing and BOM revisions due to engineering, customer and manufacturing changes.
• Initiation and support of customer-specific calculations in steel construction and piping planning in collaboration with internal or external engineering service providers
• Selection and specification of plant components (valves, instruments, pipes, etc.) for procurement
• Ensure conformity with national and international directives and standards, e.g., the Machinery Directive, Explosion Protection, the Pressure Equipment Directive, and/or equivalent requirements, such as customer specifications
• Provision of request for quotes for the supply chain and technical review of incoming supplier offers
• Design tanks and pressure vessels utilizing calculations to ensure conformance with engineering specifications and applicable codes.
• Prepare design layouts of structural bases and steelwork in accordance with engineering specifications.
• Perform peer reviews of designs to ensure accuracy to specifications, standards and codes.
• Use MRP system for BOM entry (SAP)
• Collaborate worldwide with internal/external engineering support
• Recommend design modifications to improve standard products and develop prototypes where applicable.
• Recommend design engineering procedure changes and improvements.
• Adhere to ISO quality procedures and processes for drawing management and control
• Liaise with project administrators, system engineering, purchasing, vendor, shop and assembly staff as required
• Conducting risk assessments for the designed systems and preparing declarations of conformity
• Other tasks assigned by the department supervisor critical to the daily success of Flowserve
• Cross departmental Support on technical queries such as Aftermarket, Service, new Sales, Product Engineering

Requirements

• Engineering Degree or Technologist Diploma from an accredited College/University in Mechanical Engineering
• 2-3 years' experience in industrial pressure piping design using ASME B31.1 and B31.3 and EN13480 / AD2000 preferably chemical, oil & gas sectors.
• Expert knowledge of 3D modelling and 2D drafting software (SolidWorks or equivalent).
• Applied experience in 2D drafting standards and techniques including GD&T.
• Working knowledge of pressure piping routing, design and fabrication in accordance with ASME B31.1 and B31.3 & EN13480 piping codes.
• Knowledge of ASME Section VIII, Division 1 & EN13445 pressure vessel design and fabrication
• Knowledge of Machinery Directive
• Knowledge of Pressure Equipment Directive
• Experience with structural steel design and fabrication for supporting rotating equipment and piping systems.
• Experience integrating instrumentation into piping designs including control valves, flow meters and transmitters (pressure, temperature and level).
• Languages English essential, German skills

Preferences

• Use of DS Solidworks with pipe routing/systems experience
• Use of PLM System (Windchill)
• Experience with rotating equipment and pumping systems are considered an asset.
• Gas Handling Technologies knowledge
