Job summary

MAHLE in Mexico is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop manufacturing equipment, lead engineering projects, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions for plant operations and production requirements.

The role covers layout design for processes, mechanical systems, machinery, and tooling, with responsibilities spanning concept through fabrication and final delivery, plus coordination across disciplines for successful projects.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in industrial design, including development of mechanical assemblies, tooling, and industrial equipment.
• 3+ years of experience applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and material selection in engineering projects.
• Advanced proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor for design, modeling, and technical documentation.
• Advanced English communication skills (written and verbal).
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems applied to industrial equipment and manufacturing processes.
• Experience interpreting mechanical diagrams, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
• Experience operating and programming CNC machinery, as well as supporting machining and manufacturing processes.
• Strong project management, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and development of layouts for manufacturing processes and production areas.
• Design of mechanical systems, industrial machinery, and material handling/transportation systems based on operational requirements.
• Development and management of machinery projects from concept through fabrication, integration, and final delivery.
• Coordination of multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, controls, manufacturing, and design personnel.
• Interpretation of customer and operational requirements to develop effective engineering solutions.
• Monitoring project scope, timelines, and deliverables to ensure successful project execution.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives through equipment upgrades, automation, and process optimization.
