RTX is seeking a Tooling Design Engineer in Mexicali to lead the development of tooling drawings, materials selection, and DFM analysis. You will support tool makers on tolerances, machining processes, and manufacturing improvements while collaborating with planning and production teams.

The role requires 5+ years in tooling/design, strong CAD skills, GD&T expertise, and a hands-on approach to fabrication. Occasional travel and on-site work in a manufacturing facility are expected.

Formación

• 5+ years' experience in tooling or design positions.
• Lean Manufacturing Knowledge.
• GD&T knowledge at high level.
• SolidWorks at high level.
• Pro-actively resolving critical design, manufacturing, quality and reliability issues.

Responsabilidades

• Design development for tool room requirements including drawings, materials, DFM analysis and post-fabrication validation.
• Support tool makers on drawing tolerances and specifications.
• Support tool makers on machining processes (CNC, Lathe, Milling, Surface grinder).
• Support Manufacturing Engineering on tooling development for improvements (Fixtures, gauges, Poka-yoke).
• Coordinate with Sr. Planner for tool room performance evaluation.
• Handle 5's management in the tool room; provide support and training.

Tooling Design Engineer

**POSITION SUMMARY** Tooling Design Engineer, focus on engineering documentation development (Materials, Drawing, performance).

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design development for requirements of tool room. This will include drawing, materials, DFM analysis and validation after the fabrication process.
• Support for tool makers on any tolerance or specifications of the drawing.
• Support for tool makers on machining process (CNC, Lathe, Milling Machines, Surface grinder).
• Support for Manufacturing Engineering on tooling development for manufacturing improvements (Fixtures, gauges, mechanism, Poka-yoke, etc.).
• Work with Sr. Planner for performance evaluation in Tool Room.
• 5's management in tool room. Support and training for tool makers.

SKILLS

• Proficient in English >80%
• Design For Manufacturing skills are preferred
• Strong analytical skills to identify solutions to technical issues, risks and prepare balanced decisions are essential
• Ability to manage multiple projects and project deadlines and work independently
• Great hands-on ability and mechanical aptitude and experience in machine shop and hands on fabrication
• High experience using 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) software
• Strong knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and performing statistical tolerance analysis.

EXPERIENCE

Essential:

• 5 + years' experience in tooling or design positions.
• Lean Manufacturing Knowledge.
• GD&T High Knowledge.
• Solidworks High Knowledge.
• Pro-actively resolving critical design, manufacturing, quality and reliability issues

Desirable:

• Power BI Knowledge.
• Project management experience.

EDUCATION

Essential:

• Bachelor's Engineering degree. (Mechanical, Mechatronic, Industrial)

Desirable:

• Project Management Certification.
