Sensata Technologies is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to collaborate with local or global teams on product design that meets customer specifications. The role includes design, validation, documentation and production release.

You will support NPD projects, conduct feasibility studies, lead design/validation activities, and help with data collection and reporting to ensure on-time launches. Fluency in English required.

Formación

  • A university degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in English with strong communication skills.
  • Experience with CAD/3D tools and statistical methods.

Descripción del empleo

The Mechanical Design Engineer collaborates with a local team or global engineering team on product design which satisfy customer specifications. This process includes design, product validation, completing documentation and executing launch items for production. Complete all related drawings, documentations and release in internal systems.

General Responsibilities
  • Assists with static, dynamic design, and analysis of electro‑mechanical components
  • Performs design verification on original and/or derivative design by collecting empirical data through experimental methods. Manipulate and synthesize the data to make design recommendations based off of the testing
  • Participates in feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs.
  • Work closely with support personnel (technicians and drafting teams) in the preparation of detailed technology selection, conceptual design, detail design and prototyping
  • Coordinates failure analysis investigations and engineering evaluations
  • Has a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, mechanics, fluid, thermo and heat transfer
Experience / Qualifications
  • A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast‑paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Support NPD Design projects
  • Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs.
  • Directs support personnel (technicians and drafting teams) in the preparation of detailed technology selection, conceptual design, detail design and prototyping
  • Development testing, engineering analysis, qualification testing, production launch
  • Resolves problems of limited scope using engineering fundamentals.
  • Executes scripted Design/Process Validation (DV/PV) testing with limited support.
  • Complete Failure Analysis investigations and engineering evaluations
  • Maintain product documentation (drawings and specifications) and lessons learned
  • Direct interaction with customers to solicit product specifications requirements, schedule expectations and budget
  • Advanced learning about in‑house and supplier manufacturing technologies
  • Corrosion research and welding characterization
  • Proficient understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, mechanics, fluid, thermo and heat transfer
  • Knowledge of basic electrical circuits, microelectronic assembly, statistical methods, process control fundamentals and product test processes
  • Familiarity with manufacturing methods – welding, brazing, soldering, adhesive bonding, machining, stamping, molding and forming.
  • Basic knowledge of core manufacturing processes (Calibration, Final Function Transfer (FFT), leak testing, welding/soldering, adhesive and gel dispensing)
  • Basic understanding of design tools such as Matlab and Minitab
  • Proficient with the use of CAD/3D tools such as Solidworks
  • Awareness of Design to Cost and Design for Manufacturability
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and work to targets
  • Client focus – understanding and meeting clients’ needs.
  • Problem solving and judgment – ability to assess options and implications in order to identify a solution.
  • Ability to offer innovative solutions – adapting to change, leading the change process
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
