Corning Incorporated in Reynosa, Mexico seeks a Polymer Materials Engineer to drive development, qualification, and implementation of polymer materials for optical connectivity products. You will collaborate with global teams to identify material solutions and lead projects from concept through production.

Responsabilidades

  • Lead evaluation, testing, and qualification of polymer materials for performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost objectives.
  • Support new product development through material selection, validation activities, prototype evaluations, and collaboration with product and process engineering teams.
  • Manage materials and product development projects, coordinating timelines, resources, risks, deliverables, and stakeholder communication.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing operations by troubleshooting material-related issues, optimizing processes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Role Purpose

What is your role?

As a Polymer Materials Engineer, you will support the development, qualification, and implementation of polymer materials used in optical connectivity products. You will work closely with cross‑functional global teams to identify material solutions, drive product innovation, support manufacturing processes, and lead projects from concept through production implementation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the evaluation, testing, and qualification of polymer materials to ensure product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost objectives are achieved.
  • Support new product development through material selection, validation activities, prototype evaluations, and collaboration with product and process engineering teams.
  • Manage materials and product development projects, coordinating timelines, resources, risks, deliverables, and stakeholder communication.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing operations by troubleshooting material‑related issues, optimizing processes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Experiences/Education – Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience working with polymer materials in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of polymer materials, including thermoplastics, elastomers, and related processing methods.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes such as injection molding, extrusion, and assembly.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret technical data and make engineering recommendations.
  • Effective communication and project management skills, with the ability to collaborate across cross‑functional and global teams.
  • Fluent English.
Experiences/Education – Desired
  • Previous experience in optical communications or related high‑performance material applications.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements for optical connectivity components.
