Carl Zeiss Visión Manufactura de México, S. de R.L. de C.V. seeks a Manufacturing Systems Engineer to support, optimize and maintain MES and shop floor applications in a high-volume manufacturing environment in Tijuana.

The role collaborates with Production, Engineering, Quality, IT, and Supply Chain, providing 24/7 support, scripting, integrations, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure seamless operations.

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field as listed.
  • Strong MES knowledge and shop floor systems.
  • Proficiency with SQL Server and Windows Server.
  • Programming/scripting in C#, VB.NET, Python or PowerShell.
  • Experience integrating MES with ERP and production equipment.

Responsabilidades

  • Administer, maintain, and support MES and shop floor applications.
  • Troubleshoot software, database, and production system issues to minimize downtime.
  • Configure manufacturing logic, workflows, routing, sequencing and business rules.
  • Develop scripts and enhancements to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Support MES-ERP integrations and machine interfaces.
  • Monitor SQL Server databases, Windows Server environments, and system performance.
  • Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Provide 24/7 technical support and after-hours coverage.

Job Description

The Manufacturing Systems Engineer (MES & Shop Floor Systems) is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), shop floor applications, and production software used in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role ensures the availability, reliability, and performance of manufacturing systems while providing technical support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and IT to ensure seamless manufacturing operations and business continuity in a 24/7 environment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Administer, maintain, and support Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and shop floor applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software, database, and production system issues to minimize downtime.
  • Configure and maintain manufacturing logic, production workflows, routing, sequencing, and business rules.
  • Develop scripts, utilities, and software enhancements to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Support integrations between MES, ERP, machine interfaces, and shop floor equipment.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL Server databases and Windows Server environments.
  • Monitor system performance, application health, and production logs to ensure operational stability.
  • Participate in system upgrades, migrations, implementations, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production incidents.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and system configurations.
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and IT teams to support manufacturing operations.
  • Provide technical support in a 24/7 manufacturing environment, including after-hours support and scheduled maintenance when required.
  • Manage multiple priorities while ensuring high levels of customer service and operational excellence.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or shop floor applications in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with SQL Server administration, database troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Strong experience in software configuration, scripting, or application development.
  • Experience supporting Windows Server environments and manufacturing applications.
  • Experience integrating MES with ERP systems and production equipment.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting complex manufacturing systems in a high-volume production environment.
  • Experience participating in system implementations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Experience providing technical support in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and shop floor systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server (queries, troubleshooting, and database management).
  • Knowledge of Windows Server Administration.
  • Programming experience with C#, VB.NET, Python, PowerShell, or similar languages.
  • Experience with MES platforms such as DVI, SFC, or equivalent manufacturing systems is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing workflows, production routing, sequencing, and process automation.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to participate in after-hours support, scheduled maintenance, and on-call rotations when required.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies is a plus.
  • Project management experience is considered an advantage.
