The primary responsibility of the Project Manager is the coordination of production launch activities at our Zapopan, Mexico, facility using the appropriate SKF business processes with focus on APQP.
The goal is to achieve Zero Defect launches, on time and within budget.
Product launches include new products, product line extensions and product transfers from one Sealing Solutions manufacturing location to another.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage projects using the appropriate SKF business process focusing on APQP for all product launches or product transfers.
- Lead and facilitate part time, or dedicated, cross-functional and often international teams to achieve Zero Defect product launches on time and within budget.
- Facilitate and lead all related Business and Technical Gates.
- Develop and execute the launch timeline through Timeline Management. Gain acceptance from all involved functions: including Sales, Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing.
- Resolve all timeline issues with appropriate departments to keep the project on track.
- Interact with customers and suppliers.
- Insure all milestones meet their due dates with specific attention to all Customer dates including PPAP and SOP.
- Involve the appropriate global support department and sustain international Project Management activities.
- Advise and train local colleagues in questions related to SKF APQP, GPM2 and Project Link.
- Review, update and resolve open issues identified throughout the product implementation process.
- Manage Project deliverables and risk management activities related to: Resources, Timing, Cost, and Investment by coordinating appropriate Business Gate reviews and signoffs.
- Support SKF Sealing Solutions as one global organization.
Qualifications
- BS degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent qualification. Additional education or experience in business and administration preferred.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, being able to influence without authority, negotiate and interact with both internal and external parties in an international climate.
- Ability to interact and create shared commitment at different organizational levels within SKF, at customers, and in shifting environments. Previous experience from cross-functional and international cooperation.
- Product- and Process Engineering Experience.
- Familiarity with the SKF Sealing Solutions product range, engineering and manufacturing capabilities and processes, as well as customer APQP launch processes is preferred.
- Excellent follow-up and organizational skills required.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Project, MS Power Point and standard office software.
