The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in sand casting (preferably iron casting), process improvement, root cause analysis, and production optimization. This role requires a hands-on engineer who can drive corrective actions, improve casting yield, and enhance overall production efficiency using data-driven methodologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and resolve foundry manufacturing issues, including porosity, NCU, core shift, over-grinding, and other casting defects.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions using 8D, DOE, Pareto Analysis, and Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
  • Conduct regular foundry process audits to ensure manufacturing controls and standard operating procedures are consistently followed.
  • Monitor production performance, yield trends, and process capability using analytical tools and manufacturing data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve casting quality, throughput, and overall manufacturing efficiency.
  • Analyze downstream machining feedback, identify defect trends, and implement process improvements within the foundry.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Six Sigma (LSS) principles and best manufacturing practices.
  • Improve material flow, production tracking, and reporting throughout complex casting processes.
  • Interpret complex casting and machining drawings, CAD models, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
  • Drive production readiness and support the transition from product validation to stable, high-volume manufacturing.
  • Work closely with operations, quality, and engineering teams to ensure production targets and quality standards are achieved.
  • Communicate effectively with both local and global teams in English and Spanish.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in foundry manufacturing, preferably with sand casting and iron casting processes.
  • Strong understanding of casting defects, process optimization, and manufacturing quality systems.
  • Hands-on experience with 8D, DOE, Root Cause Analysis, Pareto Analysis, FMEA, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Ability to perform detailed process audits and implement sustainable process improvements.
  • Experience analyzing production data, yield reports, and manufacturing performance metrics.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawings, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
  • Self-driven, proactive, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience supporting complex castings with multiple engineered cores.
  • Experience improving manufacturing yield and production efficiency in high-volume foundry operations.
