An established industry player is seeking a Manufacturing Manager with expertise in gears to lead their San Luis Potosí campus. This role involves developing and executing manufacturing strategies to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You will be instrumental in implementing Industry 4.0 technologies, mentoring future leaders, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet customer specifications. Formación

  • 5 years of experience in manufacturing or engineering, ideally in automotive.
  • Knowledge of gear manufacturing processes and equipment.

Eaton’s IS VEH VGNA division is currently seeking a Manufacturing Manager (gears expert).

What You’ll Do

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Develop, execute, and sustain manufacturing strategy for the SLP Campus to achieve excellence in safety, quality, delivery and cost exceeding internal and external customers’ expectations, as the campus expert in gears (process/specifications/design), you will guide the plant in developing and implementing strategies for each machining area to improve efficiency.

Essential Functions

  • Promotes the company´s vision by actively supporting Eaton´s ethics and values.
  • Implements, promotes, and maintains a safe work environment, creating a culture of zero accidents, through the prevention, investigation, equipment implementation and application of rules. Defining controls, mitigating, and eliminating risks in all business unit’s operations.
  • Encourage and comply with the requirements of the Eaton Quality System.
  • Leads, participate, and support the continuous improvement process of the SLP campus, implementing cost-savings projects to reduce wastes applying ELSS (MbyTT, Value Stream Mapping, Continuous Flow Manufacturing, Setup Reduction, 5S, etc.) and Industry 4.0 tools, including corrective actions to make an immediate impact to business results (8D, 3R, A3, etc..) and 3rd party vendors management (PSMI, HAAS).
  • Develop and sustain a Manufacturing Functional organization for the SLP Campus, through the manufacturing competencies development and training programs implementation.
  • Develop, implement, and measure a strategy focused on gears to improve plant efficiency. This includes creating sustainable processes that ensure efficiency and continuous improvement, as well as standardizing specifications across the plant and designing them when necessary.
  • Lead initiatives to incorporate digital tools and Industry 4.0 technologies in gear manufacturing processes, such as AI, and machine learning for predictive maintenance and process optimization.
  • Mentor and develop future leaders within the manufacturing team, focusing on gear manufacturing expertise and strategic thinking.
  • Work closely with customers to understand their gear-related needs and specifications, ensuring that the plant’s manufacturing processes meet or exceed these requirements. Establish mechanisms to gather and analyze customer feedback on gear products, using this information to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support PROLaunch process, participating in all aspects related to manufacturing of new released components or assemblies. Review, evaluate and implement new products, processes equipment and facility proposals.
  • Leads multidisciplinary teams in activities related to Operations, Manufacturing & Quality issues or improvements, through process standardization across the campus.
  • Leads, support and sustain the Industrial Engineering structure, including the MCO process.
  • Support SLP Campus Manufacturing Engineers as functional leader (dotted report).
  • Leads and support OpA deployment in the SLP Campus.
  • Support the VG Mobility manufacturing and growth strategy.
  • Motivate employees to maintains high level of satisfaction, productivity, and quality through effectively usage of available rewards and recognition channel´s.


Qualifications

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechanical Administrator, Industrial Engineer or equivalent.
  • 5 Years’ experience in Manufacturing or Engineering environment, ideally in the automotive industry.
  • English language at conversational level required.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and make presentations.
  • Computer literate (Microsoft office, Outlook)
  • Lean Manufacturing Techniques
  • Manufacturing and Assembly Processes Knowledge
  • PROLaunch. (Introduction of New Part Development, VAVE, new models, products, etc.)
  • ISO, IATF 16949 & Customer Requirements
  • Six Sigma (Green Belt) is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret a gear chart and gear data for conformance to quality standards and improvement of gear manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to read gear prints.
  • Knowledge of Turning, Hobbers, Shapers, Grinding, Broaching, Skiving, Generating and Profile Grinding, and Honing operations in Gear and Shaft Machining.
  • Ability to collaborate and educate the shop floor team like Quality, and Engineering personnel on gear manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge and working relations with Gear Manufacturing Equipment OEMs.
  • Ability to use GMM equipment to check parts and confirm to customer prints.
  • Ability to train new users, vendors, and shop floor personnel; and participate in the preparation of user manuals.
