POSITION SUMMARY
As a Layer Support member of the APU will be the owner of the process of all manufacturing, and industrial engineering functions of the Assigned APU. Duties include complete accountability of all process definition: machine analysis for productivity & process improvements, manufacturing based validation of all product designs and redesigns to ensure manufacturability, test and quality assurance, continuous improvements on lean implementations, and shop floor automation. Additional responsibilities include technical expertise in the pursuit of manufacturing excellence. Contributes on the APU in identifying and pursuing continuous improvement opportunities to include product quality, production productivity, material utilization, material yield enhancements, assists with safety and environmental compliance, employee involvement and new product introductions. Accountable for the development and management of capital and budgets/plans for respective business units.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate designs upstream and provide input such that they can be integrated into production efficiently with the least amount of time and labor and the highest degree of quality and repeatability.
- Ensure level of effort estimates for the manufacturing and assembly of new designs and for customer change orders is provided for assessment of manufacturing cost.
- Stabilize new products from R&D into Production by working proactively with all stakeholders and team members.
- See that root causes of technical issues in production are identified and recorded and that solutions are developed to fix problems.
- Interact with project teams for new products development giving insights from technical issues of previous products.
- Recommend solutions for enhancing manufacturing efficiency.
- Day-to-Day resolutions of manufacturing issues encountered during execution
- Leads design and deployment of Manufacturing work instructions.
- Creates and Maintains Process FMEAs and translates them into control plans.
- Tooling, fixturing and assembly-aid design, integration and implementation.
- Lessons-Learned from previous builds or process modifications.
- Design for manufacturing analysis of new designs.
- Accurate reporting, tracking and closure of manufacture-ability issues
- Provide technical expertise to manage cost, quality and customer service while ensuring safety and compliance with government regulations.
- Provide leadership in innovation through the application of advanced manufacturing and lean principles.
- Manage the entire capital investment process for applicable business area.
- Investigate, purchase, and support the implementation of tooling and equipment for future strategic initiatives.
- Leads the applicable APU in the analysis of all existing production processes while incorporating Lean principles. Including:
- Material utilization
- Quality compliance
- Material flow and throughput.
- Recognize and propose design changes to improve manufacturability.
- Support and participate in value engineering initiatives.
- Owns machine & people capacity analysis for the applicable APU.
- Manage Lean strategy for applicable APU
- Oversee the evaluation, justification, and implementation of new machinery purchases, plant layout changes, and facility expansions. Support finance in the development of accurate labor and material costing efforts.
- Supports the development, prioritization, and implementation of annual productivity improvement plans and budgets. Working with production leadership, monitor the achievement and measurement of factory labor and productivity levels.
- Develop strategies for material utilization, material planning, and inventory accuracy.
- Ensures the development, implementation, auditing, and continual improvements of the quality management system, policies and procedures.
- Owns the development and maintenance of new/current time standards/routings, and costing.
- Supports safety initiatives.
- Direct documentation of all manufacturing related standard operating procedures within the applicable business area.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree on engineering (Mechatronic, Mechanic, Electrical or Industrial)
- Min of 3yrs of experience.
- Experience on Project based large metal mechanic industries is preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is required
- Strong project management skills required
- Lean expert & Sig Sigma certifications or equivalents is desired
- Possess advanced experience in plant layout
- Intermediate AutoCAD skills preferred
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are required
- Demonstrates high attention to detail and accuracy
