Overview
SUMMARY The ME/IE Manager is the “site technology leader” of Jabil’s manufacturing processes and systems, which is designed to deliver superior performance and operational efficiency. The ME/IE Manager supports Operation’s business development effort with current and potential customers, and development / implementation of both site and global ME/IE strategies. Responsible for the establishment of optional manufacturing methods and processes for the organization’s production lines. Lead and motivate a large group of Engineers whose primary responsibility is to define and implement complete manufacturing processes. Provides ongoing review of the effective utilization of equipment, production methods, equipment layout, personnel, and material flow. Provide exceptional support to customers, team members, and shareholders.

- Leadership and Management Responsibilities
- Recruitment and Retention: Recruit, interview and hire Industrial Engineers, Process, Manufacturing and Project Engineers; Communicate criteria to recruiters for Industrial Engineer, Process, Manufacturing and Project Engineer position candidates; Coach staff in the interviewing/hiring process; Monitor team member turnover; identify factors for improvement and implement changes.
- Employee and Team Development: Identify individual and team strengths and development needs; Create and/or validate training curriculum; Coach and mentor staff to deliver excellence to customers; Create and manage succession plans for Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering function.
- Performance Management: Establish clear measurable goals; Solicit feedback from stakeholders; Provide coaching; Recognize staff; Perform evaluations; Drive continuous improvement in operational metrics and project timelines; Coordinate activities of large teams; Ensure fair recognition and rewards.
- Communication: Provide a forum for exchange of ideas; Organize ideas clearly in a business style; Encourage input; Adapt communication style to team members.
- Functional Management Responsibilities
- Business Strategy and Direction: Understand Corporate, Campus and Global PE, IE, & ME tactical and strategic directions; Define, develop and implement a Process Engineering & Industrial Engineering strategy; Provide updates on strategy execution; Manage technical support to sustain growth as needed.
- Cost Management: Identify ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes; Utilize tools to monitor cost trends; Provide feedback on cost trends.
- Forecast Development and Accuracy: Prepare timely forecasts; Compare forecasts to actuals; Anticipate future headcount requirements.
- Technical Management Responsibilities: Drive continuous improvement through trend reporting and metrics; Assess data gathering adequacy; Ensure procedures and work instructions are efficient; Prepare quotes for new/potential customers; Forecast requirements and guide suppliers; Verify line moves and reconfiguration needs; Lead equipment evaluations; Ensure measurement criteria meet site requirements; Explore new processes; Assist with Design for Manufacturability; Utilize Advanced Engineering support; Establish new measurement systems; Propose improvements and best practices; Promote IE as an Integration Engineer; Demonstrate customer service commitment; Support troubled workcells and product launches; Share knowledge across facilities; Ensure adherence to policies (Health, Safety, Quality); Protect sensitive information; Drive Lean Manufacturing campus-wide; Follow safety and security policies.
Minimum Requirements
Extensive knowledge of Manufacturing / Industrial Engineering philosophies and processes. Proven track record in communication, leadership, business analysis, process development, administration, and change management. Bachelor’s degree preferred with 3-5 years of related experience in the electronics manufacturing industry; 2-3 years of supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
