Job description

Lead the Manufacturing Engineering team in the design, development, implementation, and optimization of production processes to increase operational efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure the quality of manufactured products. Oversee and optimize existing production systems, driving continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with established manufacturing standards.

Develop and implement manufacturing processes: Lead the design, development, and implementation of efficient and repeatable production processes, including the preparation and updating of flowcharts, process diagrams, process documentation, and records in the relevant systems.

Drive continuous improvement: Coordinate time and motion studies, ergonomic assessments, improvement projects, standard work definition, and participation in Daily Performance Management (DPM) processes. Lead problem-solving initiatives to eliminate waste, reduce process variation, and improve operational efficiency.

Lead research and development activities: Direct the Manufacturing Engineering team in evaluating and implementing new manufacturing technologies, materials, and methods to improve productivity, optimize processes, and reduce costs.

Design and optimize manufacturing equipment: Coordinate the design, development, and improvement of production equipment and systems, including assembly lines, conveyor systems, and other resources required to optimize cutting and sewing operations.

Ensure process control and product quality: Implement and oversee process controls to ensure that products meet established quality standards, technical specifications, and applicable requirements.

Develop and optimize cutting programs: Ensure the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of cutting programs based on information released by Product Engineering, maximizing material utilization and process efficiency.

Coordinate cross-functional projects: Work closely with Production, Quality, Product Engineering, and New Product teams to develop and implement manufacturing processes from the PPAP stage through the launch and stabilization of mass production.

Manage work instructions: Review and release updates to work instructions prepared by Manufacturing Engineers in the relevant systems. Review and approve work instructions for new models before their release.

Ensure compliance with manufacturing standards: Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with the methods and standards defined in work instructions, identifying deviations and coordinating the necessary corrective actions.

Lead improvement initiatives: Review, evaluate, and approve improvement proposals submitted by the Manufacturing Engineering team, ensuring a minimum target of one improvement idea per engineer per month to increase the efficiency of cutting and sewing processes.

Optimize model changeovers through SMED: Review and standardize model changeover processes and train personnel in the SMED methodology to reduce changeover times and eliminate production downtime attributable to these activities.

Manage new model ramp-ups: Define and monitor ramp-up plans for new models, establishing productivity and efficiency targets, with a 15% semiannual reduction in defined ramp-up times or performance indicators starting after the first month of operation, in accordance with established criteria.

Profile

Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.

Experience in industrial manufacturing, preferably in the textile industry or in the mass production of sewn products.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to set priorities, make decisions, and influence others to achieve objectives.

Strong ability to manage multiple projects and activities simultaneously while meeting changing deadlines.

Leadership skills and the ability to coordinate technical teams and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Strong analytical thinking, results orientation, and problem-solving skills.

Change-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and process optimization.
