MISUMI Americas seeks a Manufacturing Costing Intern to analyze data on materials, processes, and cost structure, collaborating with sourcing to align insights with procurement strategies. Formación

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools and data visualization is desirable.
  • Strong collaboration and data-driven decision-making skills are a plus.

Responsabilidades

  • Analyze customer technical documentation and drawings to extract critical data for feasibility and specifications.
  • Develop Cost Breakdown (CBD) models and analyze cost structures for competitive quoting.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to refine costing tools and maintain data accuracy.
  • Contribute to Design for Manufacturing (DFM) methodologies to improve process efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support cross-functional teams including sourcing to align quotes and procurement strategies.

Role Summary (Impact in this Role): Objective / Purpose of the Position

As a Manufacturing Costing Intern, you will play a key role in analyzing data related to manufacturing processes, raw materials, and cost structure. You will collaborate closely with the sourcing department to align data-driven insights with procurement strategies and supplier performance evaluations. Additionally, you will develop detailed cost breakdowns and CBD analysis to identify opportunities for creating more competitive quotes, and you will also learn how to develop a design for manufacturing method, gaining hands‑on experience in data‑driven decision‑making within the manufacturing sector.

Areas of Responsibility: Essential Functions
  • Analyze customer technical documentation and drawings, extracting critical data—such as raw materials, processes, and GD&T to facilitate feasibility reviews and prepare sanitized specifications for manufacturing partners.
  • Develop detailed Cost Breakdown (CBD) models and analyze manufacturing cost structures to provide actionable insights for competitive quoting and procurement strategies.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to refine and maintain costing tools, ensuring data accuracy and continuous tool improvement.
  • Contribute to the implementation of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) methodologies to improve process efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Work closely with sourcing, logistics, and process to bring customer quoting solutions.

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and manufacturing cost structure is a plus.
  • Proficiency in CAD software like Solidworks, AutoDesk Fusion, etc.
  • Experience in data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent.
  • Self‑motivated, with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
