Job Description

Responsible for managing the import/export process and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Establishes and enhances the trade compliance program, implements and monitors metrics for measuring trade compliance, effectiveness, and continuous improvement. Interfaces with customs officials, government agencies, legal counsel, and trade compliance consultants. Manages the trade compliance team and provides cross-functional leadership on trade compliance.

Ensures best practices and legal trade compliance in daily export and import operations. Develops compliance procedures and record-keeping programs. Monitors and leads import and export practices to ensure full regulatory compliance. Provides expert assistance with import/export documentation. Manages classification database and product classifications related to the Harmonized Tariff System, Export and Import Control Classification Numbers. Facilitates product qualification under various Free Trade Agreements. Collaborates with corporate compliance, divisions, external brokers, agents, and attorneys to resolve trade compliance issues. Resolves clearance issues as needed. Supports monitoring and measuring broker performance. Has a solid understanding of import/export compliance rules and regulations, including Annex 24, Annex 30, IMMEX, PROSEC, CIVA, Virtual Operation, Scrap, Fixed Asset, HTS, CTPAT, AEO, and others, including Export Administration Regulations and U.S. Customs Regulations. Ensures compliance with IMMEX, PROSEC, OEA, and CIVA programs and certifications. Maintains knowledge of Foreign and Customs Trade Compliance Standards, KPIs, and maintains a compliance percentage above 80% for each area.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or engineering degree required.
  • At least 8-9 years of related experience.
  • Strong understanding of import/export compliance rules, including Annex 24, Annex 30, IMMEX, PROSEC, CIVA, Virtual Operation, Scrap, Fixed Asset, Harmonized Tariff Classification, Recordkeeping, CTPAT & AEO management, and Free Trade Agreements like USMCA. Familiarity with Export Administration Regulations and U.S. Customs Regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to recruit, interview, select, and develop team members, and motivate employees.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ERP applications (SAP).
  • Intermediate English skills, B1 level or 500 TOEFL points.
