Job Description

How you will make an impact:

Within our Clinical Research Group (CRG), an opportunity has arisen to manage and coordinate one or more accounting teams responsible for Latin America (LA) countries. With a keen understanding of laws, regulations, compliance, and reporting requirements consistent with US GAAP, this team utilizes innovative financial systems, controls, data security, and robust processes to protect the company's assets and support its global growth. You will build relationships with internal and external audit teams and key business partners to facilitate sophisticated business decisions. You will also develop strong organizational alliances to understand and mitigate risks, capture opportunities, and support business partners effectively.

This role will ensure strong financial controls, compliance, and timely, accurate financial reporting. Additionally, the position holder will provide decision support, identify operational improvements, and develop a high-performing finance team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, company policies, and SOPs; recommend controls enhancements.
  • Analyze and review monthly financial results for the LA region. Assist in preparing month-end and year-end financial statements and consolidation packages, and perform general control activities.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to prepare quarterly accruals and complete monthly and quarterly consolidation packages. Review monthly account reconciliations.
  • Research and recommend appropriate accounting treatments for technical issues as they arise.
  • Manage responses to audit inquiries, including tax, internal, and external audits, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and local statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate and review statutory reporting in accordance with local regulations for LA countries, including reconciliation to US GAAP books.
  • Oversee monthly and annual tax reporting, including VAT refunds, Transfer Pricing, and Income Tax Returns, in compliance with local regulations.
  • Act as regional financial partner, liaising with departments such as Clinical, Global Clinical Supplies, Feasibilities, Site Payments, FP&A, HR, Legal, Facilities, Procurement, Payroll, Treasury, Tax, and Audit.
  • Coordinate activities with shared service center teams.
  • Lead talent resourcing and diversity initiatives, participating in hiring and development processes.
  • Drive continuous improvements and leverage systems to increase efficiency.
  • Perform variable tasks as needed, demonstrating adaptability, resilience under stress, and multi-tasking abilities.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with relevant academic or vocational qualifications. 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent, including at least 1 year in a leadership role.

Working Conditions and Environment: Office environment with exposure to electrical equipment. Frequent travel domestically and internationally, including site visits. Long and varied hours may be required.
