Co-manage hotel projects, aligned with the assigned Manager, Property Improvements & Plan Review, for an assigned territory of franchised hotels. This includes overseeing Property Improvement Plans (PIP) for renovations and/or new hotel developments. Serve as an architectural, design, and construction expert for mid-scale or upscale IHG brand hotels. The Manager, Property Improvements & Plan Review, will focus on either PIP or Plan Review responsibilities as assigned.

PIP Responsibilities

Manage all on-site PIP renovation and new development activities to ensure compliance with franchise License Agreements, PIP, Plan Review, FF&E submittals, Hotel Brand Visions, Design Guidelines, Standards, Safety Standards, ADA, and related design criteria. Provide guidance to franchisees and their design teams throughout all project phases, assisting with design and construction solutions to ensure timely completion and quality, promoting Great Hotels Guests Love.

Plan Review Responsibilities

Approve or disapprove project plans, design boards, safety plans, and other submissions for PIP and ND projects. Ensure conformance with Brand Vision, Standards, Safety Standards, ADA, and design criteria. Offer guidance to franchisees and design consultants, ensuring projects are completed on time and meet brand and safety standards.

Leadership and Additional Responsibilities

Lead and review work of less experienced staff, providing mentoring and guidance. Offer feedback on product issues and improvement suggestions. Develop good relations with franchisees and owners, addressing design and construction requests, and providing solutions and recommendations for professional assistance.

Key Accountabilities
  • Conduct PIP visits, assessments, and produce comprehensive reports.
  • Manage onsite design and PIP scope meetings, ensuring compliance and schedule adherence.
  • Refer to Plan Review documents for ND projects, conducting progress visits and ensuring standards and schedules are met.
  • Meet with owners during construction to set expectations, resolve issues, and oversee compliance.
  • Manage budgets, expenses, and project documentation.
  • Assist in pre-approval processes, negotiations, and project planning to improve approval success rates.
  • Monitor project milestones and communicate progress to relevant parties.
  • Manage digital project management systems and perform inspections domestically and internationally.
  • Enforce Brand program compliance and communicate follow-up actions.
  • Develop and maintain owner relations, addressing waiver requests and design solutions.
  • Review project designs, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with standards and codes.
  • Participate in brand meetings, contribute to resource development, and educate during design programs.
Skills & Experiences

Education: Bachelor's or Master's in Architecture, Design, Construction Management, with AIA or ASID preferred.

Experience: Over 8 years in design, architecture, or construction management, with at least 2 years in hotel renovation or new build projects, including project management experience.

Technical Skills: Strong project management, communication, and computer skills (Bluebeam, Google Drive, Microsoft Office). Knowledge of brand standards, blueprint reading, design interpretation, construction trends, and codes including ADA.
