Scope of leadership role
Position Summary: Manages cost accounting activities/team and is in charge of cost control methods within a business unit/group. Develops and/or maintains standard cost system needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management. Provides hiring, promotion and disciplinary action recommendations, as well as performance evaluation and feedback for direct reports. Develops the product price list. Conducts extensive research and compiles product cost statements. Conducts break-even analysis to determine most efficient quantity of a product at most efficient cost. Coordinates physical inventory and cycle counts; investigates cycle count variances and resolves issues. Evaluates, reviews and ensures that proper approvals are obtained for the disposition of obsolete inventory. Maintains controls and sets processes for the proper disposition of obsolete and scrap material. Reviews or develops cost standards for materials, labor and overhead. Evaluates and makes recommendations to reduce costs and effectively produce a quality project at the best cost possible through analysis of variable and overhead costs, raw products used, and labor. Analyzes major capital acquisition proposals for cost savings and payback periods. Establishes expense budgets for manufacturing. Oversees month-end cost accounting close.
