About The Role

The Commodity Manager will be responsible for developing supply strategies for a critical category of spend. This individual will provide supply leadership through a 5-year strategic roadmap and act as the subject matter expert. The CM will coordinate with the wider supply organization, engineering, quality, and product management to ensure alignment on the strategic direction of direct material supply.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate within the Global Category team and across Product Management and Engineering to develop long-term strategy and technology roadmap.
• Align the roadmap and ensure the correct portfolio of suppliers with capabilities to meet all business objectives.
• Identify potential supply risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Work with engineering and product safety teams to define critical standards for supplier selection.
• Influence supplier selection for all NPI by teaming up with engineering and product management at the start of new product conception.
• Manage the approved vendor list for category spend and communicate preferred and least preferred suppliers across the organization.
• Ensure a competitive sourcing environment by driving dual qualification of supply, routine quoting of incumbent spend, and challenging suppliers on cost.
• Negotiate long-term supply contracts.
• Interface with cross-functional teams to assess current and future sourcing needs regarding technology, cost, and manufacturing location/lead-time.
• Deliver periodic executive business reviews of the category (5-year plan), focusing on strategy, industry landscape, supplier capabilities, performance, and technical roadmaps.
• Help define strategic business objectives from a cost, delivery, contracting, and NPI perspective.
• Manage overall supplier relationships for top suppliers in the category.
• Maintain knowledge of market trends, key drivers of supply conditions, cost structures, and ongoing technology shifts.
• Travel to supplier manufacturing locations to assess conditions, foster relationships, and communicate with supplier leadership.
• Work across global time zones to build and execute commodity strategies.

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration with a concentration in Supply Chain.
• 5+ years experience in sourcing and supply chain environments.
• Global supply chain experience with diverse teams across multiple time zones.
• Familiarity with strategic sourcing concepts and tools.
• Successful negotiation experience with international suppliers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, BPCS).
• Advanced English skills.
