LM014: Courier-1

Involves providing courteous and efficient package delivery, sorting, and collection services, and ensuring the delivery of packages by completing necessary paperwork and recording shipments in accordance with FedEx Express service standards.

General Job Description

Under general guidance, completes the following tasks:

  1. Provides efficient and safe delivery and pick-up of packages and documents, while representing the company professionally.
  2. Operates non-articulated vehicles safely and efficiently, complying with all governmental and corporate procedures.
  3. Performs accurate and timely selection and inspection of assigned packages and reports stop counts and miss-sorts.
  4. Seeks additional business from current customers, attempts to gain new business (passes leads to sales department), and informs sales of significant customer or competitor changes.
  5. Answers customer questions about FedEx services and keeps customers informed about the company and its services.
  6. Ensures packages conform to FedEx features of service, proper labeling is provided, and all paperwork is complete, neat, and accurate.
  7. Determines the legality of packages, including special requirements for dangerous goods and international shipments, and separates packages by service type and destination.
  8. Scans packages according to prescribed procedures and demonstrates proficiency in features of service and equipment.
  9. Ensures customers have adequate supply of FedEx shipping materials.
  10. Loads and unloads aircraft, containers, and vehicles, operating mechanized ramp equipment as needed.
  11. Cleans, washes, and performs minor maintenance on company vehicles; maintains a neat personal appearance.
  12. Provides and collects necessary paperwork related to pickup and delivery, such as air waybills, shipping records, vehicle condition reports, and tax invoices.
  13. Ensures security of FedEx Express and customer property, including cash, packages, equipment, and hazardous materials.
  14. Collects tax invoices from shipments requiring customs processing.
  15. May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • High School diploma/Equivalent preferred
  • Basic English skills preferred

Experience:

  • At least 1 year of experience driving 3.5-ton trucks
  • Appropriate license for the vehicle in accordance with country regulations
  • Good driving record
  • Must be 21 years or older

Skills:

  • Ability to lift 55 lbs. (25 kg) and maneuver packages up to 150 lbs. (68 kg) with equipment
  • Good verbal and written communication, human relations, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to pass Basic Skills Test sections: Reading, Map Reading, Sorting, Math
