Job summary

Mastercard is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in Mexico City to drive the evolution of scalable enterprise software across multiple services. The role combines hands-on coding with mentoring a team, setting technical direction, and shaping the engineering roadmap to maximize value across payments-related platforms.

The candidate will collaborate with Product, Operations, and Engineering partners, delivering reliable, secure, and high-performance systems within a fast-paced, scalable environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing, developing, and delivering scalable, enterprise software.
• Hands-on experience building full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, PostgreSQL.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, API design, microservices architectures.
• Experience with Agile environments, DevOps, CI/CD, and automated testing.
• Knowledge of ISO 20022 A2A payments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own complex cross-service problems and drive resolution.
• Define, design, and develop service-level procedures to meet business requirements.
• Drive prioritization decisions with product partners and roadmaps.
• Automate and simplify software delivery and promote engineering excellence.
• Provide development and architecture guidance to team members.
• Collaborate with Product, Business Operations, Technology Operations, and Engineering stakeholders.
